WBJEE 2022: New Exam Date, Admit Card, Exam Pattern

WBJEE 2022 has been rescheduled to be held on 30th April 2022. For admission to engineering and pharmacy courses offered by the colleges and universities of West Bengal, WBJEE is conducted. It is a state level entrance exam to be conducted on 23rd April 2022. To appear for this exam, the candidates will first have to apply online by providing their basic personal, contact, academic and other details. The application form has been released on 24th December 2021. Detailed information about the WBJEE 2022 has been provided here in this article.

Eligibility Criteria for WBJEE 2022

The eligibility criteria for appearing in the WBJEE 2022 exam are provided below:

Nationality:

  • The candidates of Indian nationality are eligible to apply for the WBJEE 2022.

Age limit:

  • The age of the candidates as on 31st December 2022 should not be less than 17 years.
  • No maximum age limit is prescribed except for marine engineering where the age of the candidate should not exceed 25 years.

Educational qualification:

For engineering courses:

  • The candidates should have cleared their class 12th exam with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Computer Science/ Computer Application scoring at least of 45% marks (40% for SC/ ST/ OBC-A/ OBC-B/ PWD candidates) in aggregate of these subjects.
  • Individual pass in these subjects with a minimum of 30% marks in English subject is also required.
  • For marine engineering, a pass in class 12th exam with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics scoring a minimum aggregate of 60% marks in these subjects is required. A minimum of 50% marks in English in either class 10th or class 12th is also mandatory.

For pharmacy courses:

  • Those who have cleared their class 12th exam with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Computer Science/ Computer Application with not less than 45% marks (40% for SC/ ST/ OBC-A/ OBC-B/ PWD candidates) in aggregate of these subjects are eligible.
  • Individual pass in these subjects with a minimum of 30% marks in English subject is also required.

WBJEE 2022 Application Form

Candidates need to submit an online application form in order to appear for the WBJEE 2022 exam. The application form can be obtained by visiting the official website of the board www.wbjeeb.nic.in.

  • Candidates should first fill and submit a registration form providing details like name, father’s name, date of birth, gender, contact info, password, etc.
  • After submission of registration form, they can obtain the application form using registration number and password.
  • Personal and education details like domicile, category, disability status, family income, class 12th passing year, passing status, marks, etc are required in the application form.
  • Photograph and signature of the candidates should be uploaded into the application form into scanned format.
  • Duly filled application form can then be submitted online along with the said amount of application fee.
  • Before submitting the form, the candidates should check all the details carefully as any incorrect information can lead to rejection of the form.
  • A printout of application form should be taken by the candidates and kept safe for future reference.

Application fee:

  • The application fee will be Rs. 700/- for general candidates and Rs. 500/- for SC/ ST/ OBC-A/ OBC-B/ PWD candidates.
  • Payment of application fee can be done online by using credit card/ debit card/ net banking.
  • Once the fee payment is done, a confirmation page is generated that should also be kept safe for future correspondence.

WBJEE 2022 Exam Pattern

The exam pattern for WBJEE 2022 entrance test is provided below:

  • Mode of exam: Pen and paper based exam
  • Number of papers: 2
  • Exam duration: 2 hours for each paper (with a 1 hour break between two papers)
  • Number of questions: 155
  • Type of question: Objective type
  • Total marks: 200
  • Marking scheme: 1 mark will be awarded for each right answer in category I and 2 marks for each right answer in category II and III.
  • Negative marking: For each incorrect answer, one-fourth marks of the allotted marks will be deducted.

WBJEE Syllabus 2022

A basic overview of syllabus for WBJEE 2022 is provided below:

  • Mathematics: Permutation & Combination, Algebra, Calculus, Trigonometry, Coordinate Geometry of Two and Three Dimensions, Statistics & Probability, etc
  • Physics: Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Physical World, Measurements, Friction, Units & Dimensions, Thermodynamics, Gravitation, Current Electricity, Magnetism, Oscillations & Waves, etc
  • Chemistry: Atomic Structure, Atoms, Molecules and Chemical Arithmetic, States of Matter, Chemistry of Metals, Periodic Table and Chemical Families, Hydrogen, Polymers, Coordination Compounds, etc

Admit Card 

  • Admit card to appear in the entrance exam will be published on the official website of the board.
  • The candidates should download the admit card, take a printout and carry it with them while reporting to the exam center.
  • Entry into the examination hall will only be granted to the candidates with a valid admit card.
  • Details related to examination like center address, date, time, etc will be mentioned on the admit card itself.
  • Except online, no other mode for obtaining the admit card will be provided to the candidates.

WBJEE Result 

  • The authorities will announce the result of the entrance exam after the successful conduct of the exam.
  • The result can be checked online by visiting the official website of the board and using the exam roll number.
  • Rank cards with scores will be issued to all candidates who appear in the entrance exam but not all candidates will be given ranking
  • A merit list of the qualified candidates will be prepared on the basis of their ranking for counseling purpose.

Counseling

  • Candidates will be invited to attend the counseling round as per the names in the merit list.
  • Details regarding the counseling process will be communicated to the candidates via the official board’s website.
  • During counseling, original documents and eligibility of the candidates will be verified and they will be allowed to provide their choice for college and course specialization.
  • After successful verification, seats will be allotted to the candidates on the basis of their choice and ranking.

WBJEE FAQs 2022

  1. Can a candidate outside West Bengal state apply for WBJEE 2022?

Answer: Yes. But for admission to government college and to avail the benefit of reservation, only the candidates with domicile of West Bengal will be considered.

  1. If I lose any of the important WBJEE documents, can I get their duplicate copies?

Answer: The candidates can obtain a duplication copy of application confirmation page, admit card and rank card. A duplicate copy can be provided by making request to the board till 60 days after result declaration after a payment of Rs. 500/- through a draft drawn in the name of West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam Board, payable at Kolkata.

  1. What if I made an error in filling the application form?

Answer: A correction window will be provided by the board to make correction in the application form for a limited duration of time. Any changes in the application form (not registration form) can be made during this period.

  1. Is it compulsory to appear for both papers in the entrance exam?

Answer: No. Candidates applying for Pharmacy courses need to appear only in Paper II. For engineering courses however, appearing in both papers is compulsory.
