Admission at University of Calcutta – How to apply/application form?

Candidates can apply for admission in the University by filling the online application form. Candidates should submit their applications before the last date of submission. They need to provide information such as personal details, educational details, bank details etc in the application form. The application form must be filled carefully.

Applicants must pay the application fee required otherwise their applications will be rejected by the authority. They must keep their documents, scanned copy of passport size photograph and signature handy while filling the application form. Candidates should take the printout of the filled-in form, attest the copy of testimonials, two recent passport size photographs, and the Challan/DD with the application form and send it to the authorities on or before the due date.

Application fee

For certificate and diploma courses: Applicants must pay Rs. 100/- as the application fee and those belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PWD need to pay Rs. 50/-. The fee can be paid using the E-Challan payable at C.U cash section.

For RET entrance test: Candidates need to pay Rs. 100/- as the application fee for the exam. The payment of the fee can be made using the Demand Draft drawn in favour of “University of Calcutta” payable at Kolkata.

Eligibility criteria for University of Calcutta admission

The eligibility criteria for different programme vary accordingly. Candidates should satisfy all the necessary conditions to be eligible for admission in the University of Calcutta.

University of Calcutta admission 2020- Admit card

The admit card will be made available on the official website of the University i.e. www.caluniv.ac.in. Candidates need to download the admit card and retain a printout copy of the same for future use. It is compulsory for the applicants to bring the hall ticket in the exam hall without which they won’t be allowed to appear in the test. The admit card should be kept safe till the admission process is finished.

Selection process

The selection process for admission in University of Calcutta varies from course to course in which the candidates wish to pursue a career. For admission in the research program, candidates will have to take the RET test organized by the University followed by the interview. Admission to a majority of the UG programs will be granted on the basis of the scores secured by the students in HSC/class 12th examination. Those who are interested in pursuing PG also need to appear for the entrance test conducted by the University followed by an Interview session.

Result and Counselling

Candidates can check the result of the University of Calcutta admission 2020 by visiting the official web portal of the same. The authority will announce a merit list of the candidates who are selected for admission. Such candidates will then be invited to attend the counselling session where they need to indicate their choice of preference of course and the campus. A seat will be allotted to the candidates based on the merit rank obtained in the entrance exam or qualifying exam (wherever applicable).
