Eligibility Criteria for Jadavpur University Admission 2020

The course-wise eligibility criteria for Jadavpur University 2020 admissions are mentioned here:

For UG programs:

  • BA course: The candidates must have cleared their class 12th exam or equivalent at the time of application. Minimum qualifying marks vary according to the department.
  • Sc course: Candidates with a pass in 10+2 (preferably with Science stream) with at least 75% marks (67.5% for OBC & 56.25 for SC/ ST) can apply. For B.Sc geography, minimum mark required is 70% marks (63% for OBC & 52.5 for SC/ ST).
  • L.I.Sc course: Applicants with a graduation degree are eligible. For Honors graduate minimum qualifying marks is 50% (45% for PD/ OBC & 40% for SC/ ST), for Pass Graduate, 55% (49.5% for PD/ OBC & 41.25% for SC/ ST) marks and for Graduate (Honors/ Pass), 65% (58.5% for PD/ OBC & 48.75% for SC/ ST category) plus Certificate in Library Science.

For PG programs:

  • MA course: The applicants with a BA degree in the relevant field can apply for MA course. Minimum qualifying marks vary according to the department.
  • Sc course: A B.Sc degree in the relevant discipline with at least 60% marks (54% for OBC & 45% for SC/ ST/ PD) is required to be eligible. For M.Sc Instrumentation 50% marks (45% for OBC & 41% for SC/ ST/ PD) and for Biotechnology 55% marks (49.5% for OBC & 41% for SC/ ST/ PD) is required.
  • L.I.Sc course: Those with B.L.I.Sc or any bachelor’s degree with minimum 55% marks (41.25% for SC/ST & 49.5% for PD/OBC) are eligible to apply. Deputed candidates should have 3 years of experience as a full-time salaried staff member in a recognized library or information center. No qualifying marks criterion is applicable for deputed candidates.
  • ME/ M.Tech course: BE/ B.Tech degree in the relevant field of specialization with 60% marks (45% for SC/ ST/ PD) or equivalent is required.
  • Phil course: To be eligible for M.Phil courses, the candidates must hold a master’s degree in the relevant subject with a minimum of 55% marks (50% for OBC/ SC/ ST/ PD candidates or those who obtained the degree prior to 19-09-1991).

For Education programs:

  • Ed course: Candidates with a bachelor’s or master’s degree with at least 50% marks (45% for PD & 40% for SC/ ST) are eligible.
  • A Education: The applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in the field of education with at least 50% marks (45% for PD/ Sports/ OBC & 40% for SC/ ST) to be eligible.
  • P.Ed course: Those with a B.P.Ed or B.Sc in Health and Physical Education scoring not less than 50% marks (40% for SC/ ST/ PD) can apply for this course.

Jadavpur University 2020 Application Process

The application form for Jadavpur University Admission 2020 will be released in online mode. Candidates can obtain the application form by visiting the official website of the university www.jaduniv.edu.in.

  • In the application form, the candidates need to provide basic personal information like name, gender, father’s name, date of birth, category, etc.
  • Academic details related to the qualifying exam will also be asked in the application form.
  • Scanned copies of candidates’ photograph and signature also need to be uploaded in the application form.
  • The applicants will also be required to choose the option for at least one department in which they seek admission.
  • After providing all the details into the application form, the candidates should check it carefully and submit it online.
  • Along with the application form, the candidates also need to pay a prescribed amount of application fee.
  • Candidates are advised to keep a printout of the application form along with them in case of future reference.

Jadavpur University Selection Process

  • Admission to B.Sc and B.Ed course will be done on the basis of merit.
  • For selection to B.L.I.Sc, M.Sc, MA and M.P.Ed courses, an admission test will be conducted.
  • Selection to BA, M.Phil and M.L.I.Sc courses will be done on the basis of performance in entrance test + merit.
  • Candidates can apply for admission to ME/ M.Tech courses on the basis of entrance test as well as GATE score.
  • Into BE/ B.Tech courses offered by the university, admission is done on the basis of WBJEE or JEE Mains exam.

Jadavpur University Counseling Process

  • Candidates who are shortlisted for the counseling round need to report to the university as per the schedule communicated on the official website.
  • Reporting candidates must carry all the important documents with them for verification.
  • After successful verification of documents, the candidates will be allowed to provide choice for course specialization.
  • Seats will be allotted to the candidates according to their choice and their ranking and as per the availability.

Admission Process for Foreign Candidates in Jadavpur University

Eligibility:

Faculty of Arts:

  • The candidates should have passed the 10+2 or its equivalent exam.
  • Age should not be more than 25 years old as on 1st July of the year of admission.

Faculty of Engineering & Technology:

  • Candidates should have passed the 10+2 exam with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate.

Application Process

Candidates of foreign nationality who wish to get enrolled into the Jadavpur University can submit their applications till the last week of April 2020. Along with the application form, the candidates need to send the following documents:

  • Photocopy of the Grade Card/ Mark-sheet and Certificate for (10+2) High School Leaving Examination.
  • Photocopy of the document showing the SAT score
  • Photocopy of the document showing the IELTS/ TOEFL score
  • Certificate from the Principal of the High School last attended showing the accreditation of the Institution from which the candidate obtained his/her High School Leaving Certificate
  • Recommendation of two responsible persons (in the prescribed form) preferably from the teacher/Principal/Head of the Institution attended last by the applicant
  • Two Passport size photographs
  • Photocopy of the first two pages of his/her passport
  • A write up of 300 words (approximately) from the applicant stating the reason(s) for asking admission in Jadavpur University and the purpose of study
