Law Entrance Exams in India are conducted in order to select the candidates for admissions into various law colleges. Undergraduate, postgraduate and integrated law degree programmes are offered by the law universities/ colleges situated all across the country. Eligibility for Law Entrance Exams in India 2024

The basic eligibility criteria for appearing in the law entrance exams in India are given as:

For undergraduate degree program:

  • The applicants must have completed their graduation degree in order to be eligible for undergraduate law courses.

For postgraduate degree program:

  • The candidates with a bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) are considered eligible for postgraduate law courses.

For integrated degree program:

  • For integrated law degree courses, the students who have completed their class 12th exam are considered eligible.

List of Law Entrance Exams in India 2024

AIBE

AIBE will be conducted by the Bar Council of India to provide the ‘certificate of practice’ to the selected candidates who want to practice legal profession in India. The interested candidates can register themselves for the exam that is conducted probably in the month of June.

CLAT Exam

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a centralized test that grants the qualified candidates admissions into 19 National law Universities (NLUs). Apart from this, many other institutions also consider the CLAT score for enrolling candidates into their law programmes. This exam will be conducted most probably in the month of May.

LSAT Exam

The LSAT is conducted once in a year in India and offers the candidates opportunities to get enrolled in law degree programs offered in India as well as outside. The application form is released online in the month of October (tentatively) and the exam is mostly conducted in the month of May.

MUCLET Exam

The Mumbai University conducts the Common Law Entrance Test (MUCLET) to grant admissions in 5-year integrated B.B.A.L.LB. (Hons.) course. The applicants who have cleared their class 12th or equivalent exam can apply for this exam.

CULEE Exam

The Christ University organizes CULEE, a university-level law entrance exam to offer candidates admissions in undergraduate law course. Admissions are granted into an integrated degree program, BA.LLB and BBA.LLB. The interested applicants can fill the application form from the official website.

ILICAT Exam

The Indian Law Institute conducts Common Admission Test (ILICAT) for enrolling the selected candidates in law courses. The exam is conducted in the month of June (tentatively) for which the candidates can apply by submitting their application.

Allahabad University LLM Entrance Exam 

To offer the candidates admissions in LLM degree program, the Allahabad University conducts entrance test. The applicants who hold undergraduate law degree (LLB) can appear for the LLM entrance exam.

IPUCET Law Exam

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University conducts IPUCET to grant admissions in UG and PG courses in the field of law. The university offers both LLB and LLM degree programmes and the eligible candidates can apply for the entrance exam in online mode.

BHU LLB Exam

To grant the applicants enrolment on the Law School of prestigious Banaras Hindu University, BHU LLB entrance exam is conducted. Two Undergraduate Entrance Tests (UETs) are organized in the month of April/ May for admissions in LLB (Hons) and BA LLB (Hons) courses.

TS LAWCET Exam

The TS LAWCET is conducted with the aim to screen candidates for enrolment in 3-year/ 5-year regular law courses. The application form for the exam is released in the month of March (tentatively) and the candidates interested in pursuing law degree for Telangana-based colleges can submit the form.

TS PGLCET Exam

The candidates aspiring to pursue the LLM degree from Telangana colleges can apply for TS PGLCET. Enrolment will be offered in the different state universities of Telangana and their affiliated colleges. The entrance exam will most probably be conducted in the month of May.

AP LAWCET Exam

AP LAWCET is a state-level entrance test conducted for providing admissions to the candidates in 3-year and 5-year LLB courses. The exam is conducted in the month of April and the mode of examination is online. The interested candidates can submit their application released in the month of March (tentatively).

AP PGLCET Exam

The AP PGLCET (Post Graduate Law Common Entrance Test) is conducted with the aim for offering the selected candidates admissions in postgraduate law degree program (LLM). Successfully clearing this exam makes the candidates eligible for admissions in the Andhra Pradesh universities and their affiliated colleges.

AMU BA LLB Exam

The Aligarh Muslim University offers the applicants enrolment in LLB degree program. For the purpose of screening candidates for admission, it conducts its university-level entrance exam. The exam is held in the month of May for which the application form is made available in the month of February.

JMI BA LLB Exam

The Jamia Millia Islamia University organizes JMI BA LLB, a university-level law entrance test, with the aim to select candidates for enrolment in the 5-year integrated law program. The exam will be conducted in May (tentatively) and the candidates can apply for the same in the month of February.

DU LLB Exam

The Delhi University conducts entrance exam for admissions into bachelors’ law degree program. This entrance test is managed by the faculty of Law, Delhi University. The exam is conducted in the month of July and admissions are provided into 3-year LLB course through this exam.

PU LLB Exam

The Panjab University conducts PU LLB entrance test to grant admissions to the law degree course. Those with a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution can apply for the exam. The application form is supposed to be released in the month of April for 3-year LLB admission and in March for 5-year BA.LLB/B.Com LLB integrated course.

BVP CET Law Exam

The Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University offers 3-year LL.B., 5-year B.B.A. LL.B and 5-year B.A. LL.B 5 courses. To select candidates for admissions in these courses, it conducts BVP CET. The interested candidates can submit their application form till the month of June.

AIL Entrance Test 

The Army Institute of Law (AIL) affiliated to the Punjabi University, organizes AIL entrance test to offer admissions to the applicants in 5-year BA.LLB and 1-year LL.M courses. Interested candidates can apply through online application form from the month of March.

KLEE 

The Kerala Law Entrance Exam (KLEE) is a state-level entrance exam conducted for offering the candidates admissions in law degree courses. Enrolment through this entrance exam is offered in different government and private self-financed law colleges situated in the state of Kerala.

AILET

The National Law University, Delhi conducts the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET). This entrance test is conducted for enrolment in 5-year integrated BA.LLB (Hons.) programme. The candidates can fill the application form for AILET in the online mode.
