IISc Admission 2023

IISc Admission 2023 process will begin form the month of February with the release of application form. The application form will be made available in online mode and the interested candidates can submit their applications for admissions on or before the last date.  The enrolment will be granted on the basis of national entrance exams followed by aptitude test and/ or interview in certain courses. Eligibility Criteria

The following eligibility criteria must be fulfilled by the candidates who wish to be considered for the IISc Admission 2023:

For UG courses:

  • The candidates should have completed their class 12th or PUC exam by the year 2023 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects can apply.
  • The candidates should have scored at least 60% marks or equivalent grade in their class 12th or PUC exam.
  • Those belonging to SC/ ST category only need to score passing marks in the qualifying exam (class 12th).
  • Candidates appearing in their 12th exam in the year 2023 are also eligible to apply.

For PG courses:

  • Research Programmes (Ph.D/ M.Tech (Research)): The candidates with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in the relevant field and hold a valid GATE (GPAT) or NET JRF are eligible for admissions.
  • Course Programmes (M.Tech/ M.Des/ M.Mgt): Candidates with a minimum of second class BE/ B.Tech/ B.Des/ B.Arch in an appropriate field or Master’s degree in Science, Physical Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, Geology, Instrumentation, Electronics or MCA are eligible to apply. A valid GATE score card is also required.
  • Integrated Ph.D Programmes: The candidates must hold a relevant B.Sc or equivalent degree or B.Pharma or Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy with valid JAM score. Candidates who clear JEST are eligible to apply for the Physical Sciences stream. BE/ B.Tech candidates who qualify in Mathematics/ Mathematical Statistics in JAM are eligible to apply to Mathematical Science discipline and those who qualify in Biotechnology in JAM to Biological Sciences discipline.
  • D- External Registration Programmes (ERP): The required qualifications remain the same as for the regular candidates. Qualifying in one of the tests like CSIR-UGC NET for JRF, UGC-NET for JRF, DBT JRF, ICMR JRF, GATE or NBHM is desirable. Further, the candidate should have completed two years of full-time employment in the current organization.

Application Form

The application form for IISc admission 2023 will be released on the official website www.iisc.ac.in. The interested candidates can apply for the admissions by submitting their applications online.

  • In the application form, the candidates will have to provide their basic personal and educational details.
  • Scanned copies of photograph and signature should also be uploaded in the application. The candidates must keep these documents ready before they fill their application.
  • The email id and phone number used during the registration must be kept active until the whole process of admission is over.
  • The candidates must carefully read the instruction before submitting their application.
  • Applications received after the last submission date is over, will not be accepted.
  • To complete the process of application, the candidates will also be required to submit the prescribed application fee.
  • There is no need to send the hard copy of the application form to the institute office.

Application fee:

  • The application fee payment can be done via net banking/ debit card/ credit card.
  • The application fee once submitted will not be refunded under any circumstances.

For UG courses:

Selection Process

  • The selection of the candidates for admissions into undergraduate courses will be done on the basis of their performance in any of the KVPY, IIT JEE (Main)/ IIT JEE (Advanced) or NEET (as per the applicability).
  • For research programmes, the shortlisting of the candidates will be done based either on performance in national tests or on the performance in the qualifying examination. The final selection will be done on the performance in an interview or a written test + interview (depending on the department).
  • Admissions into certain M.Tech programmes will be offered on the basis of GATE score and for some others, the GATE qualified candidates will have to clear an aptitude test and an interview.
  • For M.Des course, selection will be done based on a valid GATE/ CEED score followed by a Design Aptitude Test and interview.
  • For M.Mgt course, selection will be on the basis of valid GATE/ CAT/GMAT scores followed by a group discussion and interview.
  • Admissions into Integrated Ph.D programmes will be offered on the basis of candidates’ performance in JAM/ JEST. For some disciplines, interview might also be conducted.
