IISc BS Admission 2022: Application Form, Eligibility Criteria, Counselling

Admission process for BS (research) course offered by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) will begin from February 2022 with the release of application form. The BS (Bachelor of Science) course is a 4-year undergraduate degree programme launched by the institute in 2011. No entrance exam will be conducted for this and selection of the candidates will be done on the basis of their performance in KVPY, JEE (Main/ Advanced) and NEET UG exams. Interested applicants who also fulfill the eligibility criteria for the IISc BS admission 2022 process will be able to fill their applications in online mode.

IISc BS Admission 2022

  • Admissions into the BS courses will only be provided to the candidates who clear any of the KVPY, JEE and NEET UG exams and additionally register themselves for the admission process.
  • Final admissions will be subject to document verification and fulfillment of eligibility of the candidates.
  • Except online, no other mode of submitting the application form and fee will be provided.
  • Participation in counseling is mandatory for confirming a seat in the BS programme.
  • Based on the number of vacancies left after counseling, spot admission might also be provided to the candidates.

IISc BS 2022 Application Process

The application form for IISc BS admission 2022 will be released on the official website of IISc iisc.ac.in/ug. Candidates who wish to be considered for the admission process must submit their online application within the given time period.

  • To fill the application form, the candidates will have to provide their personal and educational information such as name, date of birth, category, gender, qualifying exam details, etc.
  • Candidates will also have to upload their photograph and signature in the application form in scanned format.
  • Care must be taken to provide all the details very carefully into the form as incorrect forms are liable for rejection.
  • After providing all the details correctly into the application form, the candidates can submit it along with the prescribed application fee.
  • The applicants are suggested to take a printout of the filled-in application form and keep it safe for any further correspondence.

Application fee:

  • The application fee will be Rs. 500/- for GN/ OBC/ KM candidates and Rs. 250/- for SC/ ST/ PwD Categories.
  • Payment of the application fee can be done online via debit card, credit card or internet banking.
  • Application fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.

Eligibility Requirements

The following are the eligibility criteria that need to be fulfilled for admission to BS programme at Indian Institute of Science (IISc):

  • Candidates who have passed their class 12th/ 2nd PUC or equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects are eligible.
  • Those who have studied Biology, Statistics, Electronics, Computer Science, etc., in addition to Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are also eligible to apply.
  • A minimum of 60% marks or equivalent grade (pass marks in case of candidates belonging to SC/ ST category) is required in the class 12th/ 2nd PUC or equivalent exam.
  • The applicants who will be appearing in their class 12th/ 2nd PUC or equivalent exam in the year 2022 are also eligible.

Selection Procedure

The selection of the candidates for IISc UG admission 2022 will be done on the basis of any of the following national examinations:

  • KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana)
  • JEE Main, securing a minimum of 60% (GN), 54% (OBC-NCL), 30% (SC/ ST/ PwD)
  • JEE Advanced, securing a minimum of 60% (GN), 54% (OBC-NCL), 30% (SC/ ST/ PwD)
  • NEET UG, securing a minimum of 60% (GN), 54% (OBC-NCL), 30% (SC/ ST/ PwD)

Candidates who wish to take part in the IISc UG (BS) 2022 admission process must appear in any of the exams mentioned above.

Not just appearing but obtaining the qualifying marks in any of these exams is also mandatory.

Those who clear any of these exams and apply successfully for the admission process will be considered for the counseling and admission process.

IISc UG 2022 Counseling

  • The candidates shortlisted on the basis of their performance in any of the four examinations as mentioned above will be invited for counseling.
  • Such candidates will have to visit the counseling venue as per the schedule communicated to them.
  • Those appearing for the counseling must carry all their important documents in original and photocopy as well.
  • Documents and eligibility of the candidates will be verified at the time of counseling.
  • Applicants whose documents and eligibility are found to be genuine will then be considered for final admissions.

IISc BS 2022 Admission Process

  • Candidates who are selected for final admissions will be required to complete rest of the admission formalities.
  • The candidates will be required to pay the prescribed tuition fee and other fees as applicable.
  • Those who fail to report for admission as per the specified schedule will forfeit their seats.
  • No request in this regard will be entertained by the admission authorities.

Expected Fee structure (in Rs.):

  • Tuition Fee (Annual): 10000 (Fully Waived for SC/ ST candidates)
  • Gymkhana Fee (Annual): 1200
  • Other Academic Fee (Annual): 3700
  • Students Emergency Fund (Annual): 300
  • Statutory Deposit (Refundable): 7500 (to be paid in the first year only)
  • Library Deposit (Refundable): 7500 (to be paid in the first year only)

Reimbursement of Travelling Expenses

Candidates joining the institute are eligible for reimbursement of Second-Class Railway/ Bus fare by the shortest route from the place of residence to the Institute. This is as follows:

  • For attending the counseling (both ways)
  • For joining the Institute (one way)

A duly filled-in TA form with journey tickets should be submitted to the Admissions Unit within 15 days of joining the Institute. Beyond this period, no claim will be accepted.

  • Caste certificate (if applicable)

  • Transfer certificate/ Migration certificate
  • Identity proof
  • Passport size photographs
