IISc Admission 2021: Counselling Process (starts from 1 Oct)

The IISc 2021 admission process will commence with the availability of the application form. Various undergraduate, postgraduate and research courses are offered by the institute in the field of science, technology, management, etc. The online application form is available from 22nd February 2021. Candidates are suggested to make sure that they meet the prescribed eligibility criteria before proceeding with the application process. IISc Admission Eligibility Criteria 2021

Check out the basic eligibility criteria for applying to the IISc Admission 2021:

  • For B.Sc degree course: Candidates need to clear their class 12th of PUC II exam with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics scoring a minimum of 60% marks (pass marks for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate.
  • For M.Tech degree course: BE/ B.Tech degree in the concerned discipline or master’s degree in Physical Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, Geology, Instrumentation, Electronics and Computer Applications as applicable along with a valid GATE score is required.
  • For M.Des degree course: Applicants should hold a BE/ B.Tech/ B.Des/ B.Arch degree with a minimum of second class and a valid GATE or CEED score.
  • For M.Mgt degree course: The candidates should hold a BE/ B.Tech degree and a valid score in GATE/ CAT/ GMAT exam.
  • For Integrated PhD degree course: Candidates having B.Sc or an equivalent degree in the relevant subject with a minimum of first class and a valid JAM score can apply.
  • For PhD degree course under External Registration Programme (ERP): Professionals working in R&D Organizations/ Industries and Faculty members from Engineering, Agricultural, Pharmaceutical, Veterinary, Medical Colleges/ Universities, recognized by the appropriate government agencies having a relevant master’s degree are eligible. A valid score in CSIR-UGC NET for JRF, UGC-NET for JRF, DBT JRF, ICMR JRF, GATE, NBHM is desirable but not mandatory.

IISc 2021 Application Form

The candidates will be able to submit their application form for IISc Admission 2021 through online mode. The application form can be obtained by visiting the official website of the institute www.iisc.ac.in/admissions.

  • Personal and academic details of the candidates like name, gender, category, marks in qualifying exam, year of passing, etc will be asked in the application form.
  • Signature and photograph of the candidates should also be uploaded into the application form in scanned format.
  • After providing all the details correctly into the application, the candidates can submit it online.
  • Along with the application form, the candidates will also have to submit a specified amount of application fee.
  • A copy of the submitted application form should be taken and kept safe by the candidates for future reference.
  • The candidates are advised not to send the application form printout or any other document to the institute.

Application fee:

The category-wise application fee structure for IISc admission 2021 is provided below. Payment of the fee can be done online using net banking, debit card or credit card.

For undergraduate program:

  • For GN/ OBC/ KM category candidates: Rs. 500/-
  • For SC/ ST/ PWD category candidates: Rs. 250/-

For postgraduate & research programs:

  • For General/ OBC/ EWS category candidates: Rs. 800/-
  • For SC/ ST/ PWD category candidates: Rs. 400/-
  • For ERP candidates (all categories): Rs. 2000/-
  • For Sponsored candidates from Defence, BARC, DRDO, ISRO, NAL, NTRO, KSRTC, BMTC, BDA, PWD and CPRI: Rs. 800/-

IISc Selection Criteria 2021

The following criteria will be followed for selection of candidates for UG, PG and research courses:

For UG degree program:

  • Candidates holding KVPY SA/ SB/ SX fellowship (obtained through the Empowerment Initiative for SC/ST candidates) will be shortlisted for admission.
  • Those with a minimum of 60% marks (54% marks for OBC-NCL/ EWS category candidates & 30% marks for SC/ ST/ PWD category candidates) in JEE Main exam or JEE Advanced exam or NEET UG exam will be shortlisted as well.

For postgraduate program:

  • For M.Tech degree program, the candidates will be shortlisted for admission on the basis of their GATE score.
  • For M.Des degree program, the candidates will be shortlisted for admission on the basis of their GATE/ CEED score.
  • For M.Mgt degree program, the candidates will be shortlisted for admission on the basis of their GATE/ CAT/ GMAT score.

For research program:

  • For integrated PhD degree program, the candidates will be shortlisted for admission on the basis of their JAM/ JEST score.

IISc Admission Process 2021

  • Shortlisted candidates will be allowed to participate in the further round of admission as per their names in the merit list.
  • The merit list will be prepared on the basis of the marks of the candidates in the above-mentioned exam.
  • An interview round will be conducted for the candidates applying for postgraduate and research degree programs.
  • Aptitude test for M.Des program and group discussion for M.Mgt program will also be conducted.
  • The candidates who clear all these rounds will be considered for the final admissions.
