IGNOU PHDEDU 2022: Doctor of Philosophy in Education

IGNOU Doctoral Degree Admission (School of Education): The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) offers the ‘Doctor of Philosophy in Education’ (PHDEDU) programme which all the candidates having Masters Degree in Arts or Education can pursue. The minimum duration of the course is 2 years which can be extended up to 5 years. The School of Education (IGNOU SOE) will release the official notification in this regard on the official website. Candidates will be required to take part in the entrance test and if they qualify the test, they can further complete the admission process by submitting the admission fee of the course to pursue the programme.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for admission into the doctoral level programme in Education from IGNOU School of Education, candidates will be required to fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria as mentioned in the following points:

• Candidates must have completed Master of Arts (Education) or Master of Education (M.Ed)) or M.Ed (Special Education) from a recognized board.
• Moreover, the aspirants must have obtained a minimum 55% marks at the master level degree in Arts, Education or Special Education.
• Candidates of the reserved category will be eligible to apply for admission with 50% marks.
• There is no minimum and maximum age criteria for admission into the PhD in Education programme.

How to apply for PHDEDU Admission?

• Candidates will be required to submit the Application for Entrance Test cum Admission form after the notification is released.
• The application form can be received from the assigned IGNOU centres or can be received via post from the university by making the payment of the prospectus cum application form.
• Candidates will have to fill in all the details in the application form as asked.
• Moreover, the attested copies of all the documents will be attached with the application form.
• Candidates will have to make the payment of the application fee for the admission cum application form as notified in the official notification.
• The payment of the application/admission fee can be made through the demand draft payable at the city of concerned Regional Centre. 

PHDEDU Admission Process

• All candidates will be required to take part in the admission test which will be conducted by IGNOU all over India.
• Candidates, who have completed the Junior Research Fellowship (UGC-JRF) programme, will be exempted from appearing in the entrance test.
• Candidates having research degree (M.Phil/PhD) or the teaching experience or both will also be required to take part in the entrance test.
• The admission will be done on the basis of the score obtained by the candidates in the entrance test.

SOE PHDEDU Hall tickets (Admit Card)

• Candidates will be issued the SOE PHDEDU Hall tickets after the submission of the Application form.
• The Hall tickets will be uploaded on the official website of IGNOU.
• Candidates can download the hall tickets from the official website which is ‘ignou.ac.in’
• Without the hall tickets, candidates will not be allowed to appear in the Entrance Test.

SOE PHDEDU Fee Details

• The fee of the ‘Doctor of Philosophy in Education’ (PHDEDU) programme is Rs. 14,000.
• Candidates will be required to pay the fee at the time of admission.
• The programme fee can be paid only via Demand Draft which will be drawn in favour of IGNOU payable at the city where the Regional Centre is located.
