The All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE 2021), was an all India level engineering and architecture examination that used to be conducted for admission to B.E/B.Tech and B.Arch programme offered by various institutions of the country. List of top-known institutions includes 30 National Institute of Technology, 5 Indian Institutes of Information Technology, CFTIs/SFTIs and numerous self-financed technical institutes.
The exam was firstly introduced in the year 2002 and conducted every year on the last Sunday of April month. The authority used to declare its result in the last week of May or the first week of June. Shortlisted candidates were provided rank on All-Indian and state basis.
AIEEE Had Replaced by JEE Main in 2013
In April 2013, CBSE introduced JEE Main and JEE Advanced which had replaced AIEEE and IIT JEE respectively. Now, if you are a 2021 aspirant and seeking admission to engineering and architecture programme then you need to apply for JEE Main 2021 and JEE Advanced 2021 respectively.

Eligibility for Appearing in AIEEE 2021
Candidates who have cleared class 12th exam with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects from a recognized board are eligible to appear in this exam. Those appearing in their final year of 12th exam are also eligible to appear in the test. However, in such cases candidates had to submit their result at the time of counselling.
Structure of AIEEE 2021: Highlights
- The test consists of two papers, the first paper was conducted for B.E/B.Tech programme, whereas second paper for B.Arch programme.
- Candidates were permitted to opt any of both the papers.
- Paper 1 had three sections namely Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
- Each section holds only multiple choice questions having one correct answer.
- Deduction of marks was done for the incorrect response.
- Paper 2 had three sections including Mathematics, Drawing, and Aptitude.
- Aptitude and Mathematics section consist of multiple choice questions whereas; drawing section had drawing-based questions.
The exam used to be conducted in offline mode till 2010, however in the year 2011 the Central Board of Secondary Education had conducted Paper 1 exam in online mode.
Counselling Procedure
After declaration of AIEEE result, candidates were provided All India Rank (AIR) based on which they were called for counselling process. Candidates had to fill up their choice of courses and colleges as per their marks scored in the exam and accordingly they were provided admission.
