Eligibility Criteria
- The aspirant must be an Indian citizen.
- Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) can also apply for MBBS and BDS admission.
- It is essential for the students that they have passed the higher secondary school examination from a recognized board.
- The minimum marks obtained by the candidates in the higher secondary school exam must not be less than 50%.
- SC and ST candidates, the candidates of the reserved category, can apply with 45% marks.
- Candidates of the SC-PH/ST-PH/OBC-PH/GEN-PH category need to obtain 40% to be eligible for the admission to the MBBS and BDS courses.
- It is also compulsory that candidates have studied the subjects such as Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) in the 12th standard exam.
- Candidates appearing in the 12th standard exam will also be eligible for admission through NEET.
Admission/Selection Process
- Merit list of the candidates, who have taken part in the NEET, will be made on the basis of marks obtained in the NEET Exam.
- Candidates need to take part in the counselling after the announcement of the result of the NEET.
- 85% of the seats in the state of West Bengal, will be reserved for the candidates having WB domicile.
- 15% of the seats will be reserved for the candidates belonging to the other state.
- National level counselling will be conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) & Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will conduct the counselling.
Entrance Exam details
- Candidates will be offered the admission through the NEET exam only.
- The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct the NEET.
- The NEET is conducted at the various exam centres on the national level.
- The entrance test will be commenced in the month of May.
- The result of the exam (NEET) will be announced in the last week of June.
- Next, candidates will also need to participate in the counselling to get the allotment of seats in the medical colleges.
