Eligibility Criteria for Thapar University MA/MCA/M.Sc Admission 2021

For MA (Economics)

Candidate must possess BA/B.Sc. in Economics/ B.Statistics/ B.Com. / BBA/Bachelors in Business Studies/BE/B.Tech with the minimum of 50% (45% marks for candidates from SC/ST category) at Bachelors level.

The study program will have following two specializations:

• International Business
• Money, Banking and Financial Markets

For M.A. (Psychology)

Candidates must hold recognized Bachelor degree in Psychology (Honors) or Arts/ Allied Sciences/ Science such as Home Sciences/ Human Development/ Nursing/B.Tech of minimum three-years duration with at least of 50% marks (45% marks for SC/ST category) in aggregate and Psychology as one of the major subjects at graduation level.

Applicants, who have appeared in the examination of the final year, will also be eligible. However, for such applicants, admission will be provisional.

The program will have following two specializations:

• Counselling Psychology
• Clinical Psychology

For MCA (3 Yrs) course

• Candidate must hold a recognized bachelor degree of minimum three years duration in any stream with a minimum of 60% marks (55% for candidates belonging to SC/ST) in aggregate.
• Mathematics should be studied at 10+2 level or at graduation level, and has also qualified in the entrance test to be organized by the university.

MCA Lateral Entry (2 years duration)

• Candidates must hold a recognized bachelor degree of minimum three years duration in B.Sc. (IT/ Computer Science), BCA with the minimum of 60% marks (55% marks for candidates belonging to SC/ST category) in aggregate.
• Mathematics should be studied at 10+2 level or at graduation level and has also qualified in the entrance test to be organized by the university.

Eligibility for M.Sc programme

Candidates should have a recognized Bachelor’s degree in Science of minimum three -years duration with at least of 60% marks (55% for candidates from SC/ST category) in aggregate in the related stream.

Applicants seeking MA/MCA/M.Sc admission in Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology University will fill up the online application form available on the official website of university i.e. www.thapar.edu. Selection Process

For MA Admission

Selection to MA courses will be done by combining percentage of marks scored at 12th and Graduation.

For MCA Admission

Selection will be made on the basis of merit of 10th, 12th and graduation. Overall minimum 60% marks (55% for candidates belonging to SC/ST category) in graduation will be required to be eligible for admission.

For MCA Lateral Entry

Selection will be done on the basis of merit prepared by entrance test to be held online by the University of India.

For M.Sc admission

Selection in all M.Sc. courses will be done on the basis of merit set by giving 40% weightage to 10+2 marks and 60% weightage to Graduation marks. Overall minimum 60% (55% for candidates belonging to SC/ST category) in graduation will be required to be eligible for admission.
