NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Exam Pattern 2022

The post is providing here information related to exam pattern of Design Aptitude Test (DAT) conducted by National Institute of Design. We are sharing here all important highlights so that you can make your preparation even more efficient.

Important Highlights

  • The exam will consist of only one question paper of 3 hours duration.
  • All questions are to be asked in English language only.
  • There will 100 questions in the exam.
  • The question paper will consist of subjective and objective questions both.

Exam Centre

NID Design Aptitude Test is scheduled to be conducted at Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Chennai, Guwahati, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Nagpur, Mumbai, New Delhi, Ranchi, Vijayawada and Thiruvananthapuram.

The National Institute of Design has right to add or remove any of the aforesaid test centres. It is possible that a city has more than one exam centre. No candidate is permitted to make change in the exam centre across the same town/city.

Details About Studio Test and Interviews

Based on candidates’ overall performance in Design Aptitude Test, they will be shortlisted and called for stage 2 (Studio Test) and stage 3 (Personal Interviews). The hall tickets for appearing in state 2 & 3 will be made available at the official admission portal of NID i.e. http://admissions.nid.edu.

Stage 2 (Studio Tests) for Applicants of B.Des Programme

The studio test may have various sections in diverse formats for example hands on practical assignments, etc. The test will be of 100 marks and conducted in online mode only.

Stage 3 (Personal Interviews) for Applicants of B.Des Programme

There will be separate personal interview gets conducted for each discipline of specialization just after completion of studio tests at the same centre.

Stage 2 (Studio Tests) for Applicants of M.Des Programme

The studio test is going to be held separately for each discipline of specialization. The studio test may have various sections in diverse formats for example hands on practical assignments, group discussion etc. The exam conducting authority has allotted 100 marks for the studio test.

Stage 3 (Personal Interviews) for Applicants of M.Des Programme

The personal interview is going to be held for every discipline of specialization and it will be organized just after completion of studio test at the same centre.
