Newton International Fellowship 2021 is organized to pick the best postdoctoral researchers across the world to work with UK research institutes for 2 years of time span. The main aim of the fellowship program is to support the training and improvement of postdoctoral researchers from any country out of UK at the early career stage by offering an opportunity to work with UK research institute. This fellowship program also look forward to promoting long-way relationship between Newton International Fellows and UK research institute by establishing an alumni program for former fellows of this scheme.

The subjects that are covered under the fellowship program are- Physical Sciences, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities. The eligible and meritorious candidates can apply for these subjects from any country out of UK.

The fellowship scheme also covers clinical & patient oriented research through the Academy of Medical Sciences. Only those applicants can apply for this scheme who belong to brazil, China, India, Mexico and South Africa during the current rounds.

Award Value of Newton International Fellowship 2021

• Subsistence costs of £24,000 per annum (exempted of tax)
• Consumables around £8,000 per annum
• For relocation expenses in one ear only the scholar will get one-off payment up to £2000
• There will be a contribution (that will be equal to 50% of the total award) made to enable the UK host institute to conduct the fellowship.

Eligibilities to apply for Newton International Fellowship 2021

The candidates wish to fill the fellowship form do not forget to go through the eligibility criteria given below. The minimum eligibility requirements include-

• The candidates must have a PhD degree or expected to get the degree when the fellowship funding starts.
• The candidates must have 7 years of active full-time postdoctoral experience not more than 7 years at the time of application (discounting career breaks but including teaching experience/period spent in an industry).
• The applicants should not be an UK national and must be working out of UK at the time of application.
• The candidates should have a transparently specified and mutually beneficial research proposal agreed with the host researcher of UK.

The application procedure for Newton International Fellowship 2021 will be completed through online mode via Royal Society’s new Electronic Grant Application & Processing System Flexi-Grant. At initial stage all the applications received will be reviewed by 2 members of Newton International Fellowship panel. These 2 members will shortlist the applications and the shortlisted applications will again be reviewed by the panel for final section.

The applicants must note that the application should be made jointly by him and his proposed UK co-applicant. There will not be any help provided to find out a co-applicant and also you have to be agreed a research project with your co-applicant before you apply for fellowship.
