NEET MDS Eligibility criteria 2023: NEET-MDS is an eligibility-cum-ranking entrance examination prescribed as single test for various Dental PG courses. As per Dentists Act, 1948, no other state or institute level exam will be organized for admission to MDS Courses. NEET MDS Eligibility criteria

The Eligibility criteria of an exam is a set of conditions related to qualification, age limit, Nationality/ domicile and other requirements that candidates have to fulfill in order to be eligible to appear in the exam and admission process.   • The aspirant should be an Indian citizen /Person of India Origin (PIO)/Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) having BDS degree from a government recognized dental college of India under the Dentist Act, 1948.
  • Such candidates must have received provisional or permanent BDS registration and also completed 1 year (12 months) of mandatory rotary internship in a recognized dental college to be eligible to participate in the exam.

Educational qualification

  • Candidates who have completed BDS Examination on or before 1988 and hold a recognized degree of BDS under Indian University are exempted from the condition of one year mandatory rotatory Internship.
  • Candidates without possessing 1 year internship will not be considered for admission except the students of the batch enrolled during the academic year 2007-2008 and have done 4½ year BDS degree programme along with six months necessary internship or students admitted during the academic session 2006-2007 at Rajah Muthiah Dental College, Annamalai University and have done five years BDS degree without internship
  • Applicants, who have completed the final BDS qualifying examination and are undergoing 1 year rotatory internship which is likely to be finished by March 2023 are also eligible to appear in the exam. However, admission to such candidates will be provided only if they have done the mandatory internship and obtained provisional or permanent registration on or before March 2023 or candidate need to produce a certificate from the head of Institution indicating that he/she will be completing internship by March 2023.
  • The Dental Colleges of the candidates should be acknowledged under the Dentists Act, 1948 or have an equivalent qualification recognized by the DCI.

State criteria

  • Registration with the State Dental Councils is must and the documents proof of the same has to be produced at the time of counselling.
  • Those, who passed or completed their BDS from the states of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir are not eligible for the 50% All India Quota Seats. However, applicants who are selected by the Government of India to study BDS programme from Dental Colleges located in the states of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir will be eligible to apply for admission.
  • Some of the universities/institutions are having regulations that applicants who are already pursing any Post Graduate course in their university or another university are not considered eligible for admission till they finish the course.

NEET MDS Attempt limit

Applicants can apply and appear for NEET-MDS only once for PF dental admission to the academic session 2023-2024.
