Candidates who fulfill the eligibility conditions mentioned below can apply for the IISER Kolkata PhD Admission 2022:

• For students with own fellowship: Students with independent PhD fellowship from external funding agencies (e.g. CSIR, UGC, DBT, ICMR, INSPIRE, NBHM, etc) and having a minimum of 55% marks in their Master’s degree are eligible to apply for the IISER Kolkata PhD Programme.
• For students without any fellowship: An applicant must have qualified at least one national level exam, e.g. GATE, JGEEBILS, JEST etc and must have a minimum of 55% marks in the Master’s degree.

Question 1: I have not cleared my qualifying exam yet. Can I still apply for admission?

Answer: Students waiting for their final master’s degree result may be provisionally selected for PhD Programme but they must furnish the final result (mark-sheet) satisfying the qualification criteria within 30 days from the date of admission. Scholarship will not be given to the provisionally admitted students until the production of the final result

Question 2: Is there an entrance exam for admission to PhD course in IISER Kolkata?

Answer: No. For PhD courses offered by IISER Kolkata, no entrance exam is conducted by the institute and the candidates are selected for admission on the basis of marks secured in the qualifying exam and NET exam or equivalent.

Question 3: What happens if I am unable to report for the admission in given time?

Answer: Candidates who fail to report for the admission in given time, their candidature will be canceled. No request for re-conducting the admission formalities for such candidates will be entertained.
