Candidates who are willing to pursue Master of computer applications (MCA) from IGNOU School of Computer and Information Sciences (SOCIS) must submit their admission application form on or before the due date. Master of Computer Applications (MCA) – Duration of Course
- Minimum duration: 3 Years
- Maximum duration: 6 Years
Programme Fee: Rs. 54,000/- for full programme
The fee has to be paid semester wise i.e. Rs. 9,000/- per semester. Non Maths students have to pay Rs.1, 200/- added in the first semester for BCS-012 course.
Eligibility criteria of IGNOU Master’s degree (School of Computer and Information Sciences)
Candidates should satisfy the prescribed eligibility criteria before applying for admission. The details of eligibility criteria for IGNOU MCA admission are as follows:
- Candidates who have done any bachelor’s degree of minimum three year duration from a recognized University with Mathematics as one of the major subject at 10+2 level or graduation level are eligible to apply for admission.
- Applicants who do not satisfy above condition must pursue and pass the BCS-012 (basic mathematics) course concurrently with IGNOU’s MCA
- Note: If candidate had studied Mathematics at +2 or graduation level, then he/she need not register for BCS-012
- There will be no provision on upper and lower age limit.
About IGNOU MCA Course
The MCA course strives on offering academic background as well as inclusive practical experience. The main objective of this programme is to create trained professionals who can meet the needs of the rising IT industry. SOCIS of IGNOU offers MCA course in English medium only.
This Master’s Degree course has been designed with a semester system approach in mind. Thus, the course has been divided into two semesters per year i.e. January-June semester and July-December semester. Therefore, there will be two examinations in each year – one in the month of June (for the January – June semester) and the other in December month (for the July – December semester courses). The duration of the MCA course offered by IGNOU SOCIS is three years, which is extend across six semesters. The initial 2- years could be more focused on offering a strong foundation and skills development with the help of various technological means. While the third year, provides specialization in a specific area and a project work. After the successful completion of MCA course, students might work as an IT consultant, software developer, programmer, system analyst, Software Application Architect or as a faculty member in various colleges and institutes.
