The courses in the HNB Garhwal University are divided into two categories i.e. category E and Category C. For Category E courses, the university will conduct its own entrance exam, while for category C courses, the admission will be granted via counselling based on CAT/ MAT/ JEE (Main)/ CMAT score. For M.Sc (Physics/ Chemistry/ Geology)
- The candidate must have a B.Sc degree in relevant subjects with at least 45% marks
For M.Pharma
- The candidate should have a B.Pharma degree with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for candidates from SC/ST categories)
For MCA
- The applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree with 50% marks (45% for candidates for SC/ST category)
- The candidate should have studied Mathematics at graduation or 10+2 level.
For M.Tech
- The candidate must have a B.Tech degree in relevant discipline.
For MA (Hindi/ Journalism and Mass Communication/ Sanskrit/ Philosophy/ History/ Economics/ Archaeology/ Sociology)

- For admission to courses like B.P.Ed/ M.P.Ed, the candidates need to appear for the physical efficiency and sport proficiency test in addition to the entrance exam. The physical test will be held at Srinagar (Garhwal).
