The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is a reputed institute of the country that is known for its impeccable fashion education. The institute will conduct NIFT 2023 entrance examination for admitting candidates in different UG & PG programs in the field of design and fashion technology. Eligibility Criteria for NIFT 2023

For Bachelor of Design (B.Des)

Educational Qualification:

  • Candidate should have completed class 12th or its equivalent from a recognized board/university

OR

  • Candidate should have completed 12th or its equivalent from any foreign university/board recognized by AIU.

OR

  • General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri-Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level/ International Baccalaureate (IB).

For Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.Tech)

Educational Qualification:

  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 exam with PCM from any recognized board/University.
  • Candidates having 3 or 4 years diploma in engineering are also eligible to apply.
  • Those who have passed GCE or IB exam with PCM can also apply for the exam.

For Master of Design (M.Des)/Master of Fashion Management (M.F.M)

Educational Qualification:

  • The candidate should possess a UG degree from any recognized institute or university.
  • Candidates having UG diploma of minimum 3 years duration from NID/NIFT can also apply.

For Master of Fashion Technology (M.F.Tech)

Educational Qualification:

  • The candidates who have finished their B.F.Tech program from NIFT are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates who have completed their B.E / B.Tech from any recognized University/Institute can also apply.

Note:

Candidates appearing in class 12th or equivalent can also apply for the Bachelor’s degree course provided that their result must have been announced till the date of admission/counselling. The same condition is applicable for candidates appearing in the final year of their bachelor’s program and intends to apply for master’s program.

NIFT 2023 Application Form

The authorities will release the application form for NIFT 2023 entrance exam probably in the 4th week of October 2022. Candidates should fill the form early to avoid the last-minute hassle. The application form will only be available via online mode. Applicants can apply for NIFT 2023 by visiting the official website. Applicants need to pay a certain amount of application fee to submit their form successfully. To edit/correct the particulars in the application form, applicants will be provided a correction window. They can edit/review their personal information except for the city of examination under the stipulated time frame.

The above application fee can be paid by online mode (Credit Card/Debit Card) or through Demand Draft issued in favour of “NIFT HO”, payable at New Delhi.

Exam Pattern for NIFT 2023

NIFT 2023 exam pattern differs from program to program. The written exam will be conducted as per the given two categories-

NIFT 2023 Syllabus

The syllabus of NIFT 2023 is multi-disciplinary in nature. The Institute has defined clear-cut guidelines on the type of questions that will be asked as a part of the written test. Candidates are suggested to prepare for the exam strictly according to the syllabus specified by the NIFT.

General Ability Test (GAT) Syllabus

Quantitative Ability: The questions will be based on topics such as Addition, Division, Multiplication, Fraction, Percentage, Simple Interest, Work and Time, Ratio & Proportions, Speed and Distance etc.

Communication Ability: This test is designed to examine a candidate’s ability to communicate in English language in day to day conversations. There will be questions pertaining to antonym, synonym, one-word substitution, idioms & phrases, spelling mistakes, sentence correction, singular & plural etc.

English Comprehension: This sub-test analyses a candidate’s ability to comprehend a situation from a   given passage.

Analytical Ability: This sub-test is designed to assess a candidate’s inference & logic from the information given in the paper.

General Knowledge & Current Affairs: This sub-test assesses a candidate’s knowledge of the current events and affairs happening at the local as well as global level. It also comprises of general knowledge related questions.

Case Study: This sub-test is based on a situation of an industry environment. This part evaluates the managerial ability of a candidate.

Logical Ability: This sub-test is aimed to evaluate the candidate’s ability to identify the logic or reason involved in a particular problem and applying the logic in solving the problem given in the paper.

Case study based group discussions: Shortlisted candidates are required to go through Group Discussions. It would entail a discussion comprising of approximately 15 to 20 minutes of discussion on a case study given on which a panel of experts will assess the candidates on the following parameters-

  • Conceptual clarity
  • Knowledge of the topic assigned
  • Contribution made on the topic to the group
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Ability to generate new ideas

Personal interview: Shortlisted candidates will need to go through a Personal Interview. A candidate will be judged on the various parameters as listed below-

How to Prepare for NIFT 2023?

NIFT Entrance Exam is one of the most renowned exams in fashion discipline. Every year, lakhs of candidates appear for the exam, but only a few of them get through it. Admit Card for NIFT 2023

The admit card will be available on the official website of NIFT i.e. www.nift.ac.in. Only those candidates can download the admit card who have successfully submitted the application form for the same. Candidates can download their respective hall ticket for NIFT 2023 Exam only via online mode. No physical admit card will be sent to any candidate via post or any means whatsoever. It is compulsory for all the candidates to carry their admit card to the exam hall on the day of examination. Applicants are suggested to keep tabs on the official website for regular updates.

NIFT 2023 Result

Candidates can check their respective result for the NIFT entrance exam for the year 2023 through the official website. The result will be displayed in form of merit list. Candidates who will clear the written test of GAT & CAT will be shortlisted on the basis of scores obtained by them in the exam and then will be called for the further rounds such as situation test/group discussion/personal interview. The weightage assigned to each test in the final merit list will differ from course to course.

Counselling for NIFT 2023 Entrance Exam

The dates of the counselling will be available on the official website in the month of May/June 2023. Candidates should follow the website regularly to keep tabs on the updates regarding the counselling for the NIFT examination. On the day of the counselling, the candidates will be asked to show their original documents for verification purpose. The same will be returned once the verification by the concerned authority is done.
