Chandigarh MBBS/BDS Admission 2021: Chandigarh, which has been given the status of the union territory, is the capital of Punjab and Haryana. Chandigarh has got a name in the field of education, specifically in the medical education. Candidates, who have pursued the higher secondary education from a recognized board, can apply for admission into the MBBS and BDS programmes. The admission into the medical colleges of Chandigarh starts from the June every year.

The admission in the medical colleges of Chandigarh is offered on the basis of the score attained by the candidates in the NEET. Candidates need to fill in and submit the online application form to complete the admission process. However, candidates can fill the application cum admission form through the offline mode. Eligibility Criteria

  • Only Indian citizens will be eligible to apply.
  • Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) can also apply for Chandigarh MBBS/BDS Admission 2021.
  • Candidates must have qualified the higher secondary education (12th) from a recognised board of secondary education.
  • Candidates must be 17 years of age to be eligible for admission.
  • Candidates are required to pass Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English separately in the higher secondary exam (12th).
  • Candidates will also be eligible to apply for NEET who are appearing in the Higher Secondary School Exam (12th).

How to apply?

  • Centralised Medical Counselling will be organised for admission in the medical colleges of Chandigarh.
  • Candidates, who have qualified or got a rank in the NEET, can apply for counselling to get the allotment of the medical
  • Candidates need to fill all the required information in the application form as asked.
  • The information will be about the name, age and education etc.
  • Candidates will also have to pay the application fee through the demand draft payable at Chandigarh from the State Bank of India.
  • The application form will be submitted to the “Coordinator, Centralized Medical Admissions – 2019, Diary Section, Room Number 228 –A, Level II, D – Block, Hospital Building, Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32 – B, Chandigarh – 160030”.

Admission Process

  • Candidates need to take part in the admission counselling.
  • The admission counselling will be commenced after the release of the NEET result.
  • Candidates will be offered the admission in the medical colleges of Chandigarh on the basis of the NEET score.
  • Candidates can take the admission in the allotted medical college after the admission counselling is conducted.

Details of the Entrance Exam

  • The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
  • CBSE releases the result of the NEET in the month of June after the exam is commenced in May.
  • The merit list is released on the basis of the marks attained by the candidates in the NEET.

Details of the Courses

  • The duration of the MBBS course is 4½ years.
  • BDS course is of 4 years’ duration.
  • Candidates will have to complete the 1 year of internship programme also after the completion of the course.

Lastly, candidates will have to submit the documents at the time of counselling and admission into the allotted college.
