Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must satisfy the necessary eligibility criteria, before appearing in the entrance exam.

For 1st year

Candidate must have done 10+2 examination or equivalent with Physics, Mathematics and any one of the other elective subjects from a recognized Board/University established by law in India with minimum 50% marks (45% for reserved category) or equivalent grade.

The upper age limit of the candidate will be 22 years as on the year of admission.

For Lateral Entry

Candidates seeking admission to an Engineering Degree course at the 2^nd year and third semester level, through lateral entry scheme, must fulfill one of the following conditions

Candidate must have obtained a diploma of three years in IT/CSE or ECE (after 10+2 or matriculation) or a B.Sc degree with mathematics and physics from Himachal Pradesh State Board of Technical Education or equivalent with at least 60% marks in aggregate from institute preferably located in H.P

Candidates appearing in the final year or awaiting the result can also apply. Provided to submit the passing certificate and required percentage on the day of counseling.

HPU B.Tech (CSE/IT) Application Form: How to Apply?

Aspirants who want to get admission in Himachal Pradesh University under B.tech courses (Fresh and Lateral) may fill the application form offline (Lateral) and online (fresh entry) from the official website on or before the due date. For admission in the first year B.Tech course at HPU, candidates need to apply online by visiting the official website. In case of lateral entry, candidates can download the application from the website and apply offline.

Steps for filling Application Form

First, click on “Register Now” to make a new account. After successful registration, a unique application form number will be generated in your system. Candidates must note the application number for all future use.

After that, click login to fill the online application form.

Candidates have to enter all important details mentioned in the application form accurately. They have to upload the scanned Photo & Signature Form. Candidate needs to pay the required amount of application fee. To save the data click on ‘Continue and Save’ button. Now recheck the details carefully and make the correction if required. Then click on submit button.

For Lateral entry

The Lateral Entry applicants are not needed to fill the offline application form. They have to download the PDF format of application form for lateral entry scheme from official website www.hpuiitshimla.org. Fill the form with accurate details and also attach 2 latest passport size photographs, attested copies of the certificate of 10^th class for verification of candidate’s Age, Result card/Marks card of the qualifying examination. They have to send a bank draft of Rs. 1000/- in favour of Director UIIT, H.P. University Shimla-171005. All the above documents should be enclosed in an envelope and the same will be sent by post or in person at the below address:

Admit card

Admit card will be available online only for those candidates who have successfully done the registration process and fulfill all eligibility norms. Admit card will contain important particulars of the exam such as candidate name, roll number, exam schedule, examination center location etc.

Exam Pattern

• The entrance exam contains two papers. The duration of each paper will be two hours.
• Each paper will comprise of 100 multiple choice type questions
• The first paper will contain questions from Physics and mathematics subjects.
• Paper two will consist of questions from English, aptitude test with reasoning and IT-related GK.
