BHU RET 2021: BHU Research Entrance Test

For admissions into Ph.D and integrated M.Phil-Ph.D programmes offered by the Banaras Hindu University, Research Entrance Test (RET) 2021 will be conducted. The date for conducting the entrance test will be updated here soon. Those who clear the written exam will then have to appear for the interview round. The final selection of the candidates will be done on the basis of performance in the entrance test and the interview. BHU RET 2021 Important Dates

The official dates for BHU RET 2021 are given below. The exact dates will be updated after they are officially announced by the concerned authorities.

BHU RET 2021 Application Form

The application form for BHU RET 2021 will be released in online mode on the official university’s website www.bhu.ac.in. The interested candidates can register themselves for the entrance test only in online mode.

• Aadhaar card will be mandatory for filling the application form.
• The form can be filled by providing the personal, academic, and experience (if any) related information.
• Scanned copies of photograph and signature also need to be uploaded in the form.
• The candidates will also have to provide the choice for discipline in the application, in the order of preference.
• After providing all the details in the form, the applicants can submit it along with the prescribed application fee.
• The candidates must save a hard copy of the application form with them in case of future use.
• There is no need to send the hard copy of the application form to the university.

Application fee:

• The application fee will be Rs. 500/- for General and OBC candidates and Rs. 250/- for the candidates belonging to SC/ ST category.
• The payment of fee can be done using credit card/ debit card through the payment gateway available on the entrance test portal or via HDFC bank Challan.

Eligibility Criteria

The BHU RET 2021 eligibility criteria are given in details below:

For Ph.D degree programme:

• The candidates should have obtained the master’s degree in the concerned discipline from a recognized university.
• The candidates must have scored at least 55% aggregate marks (60% in case of Management Studies) or an equivalent GPA in the qualifying exam.
• For the candidates belonging to OBC category, the minimum mark required is 47.5% and 45% for SC/ ST candidates.

For Integrated M.Phil-Ph.D degree programme:

• A pass in the master’s degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university is required.
• The minimum mark required is 55% for the general category students, 47.5% for OBC candidates and 45% for SC/ ST candidates.

Exam Pattern

The Research Entrance Test will have two components- Test A and Test B.

Test A will be based on Subject Knowledge, Assessment of Logical and Analytical Capability, and Research Methodology.

• Important topics: Foundation of Research, Problem identification, and formulation, Research design, Qualitative and Quantitative Research, Measurement, Sampling, Data Analysis, Interpretation of Data, Paper Writing, Use of Encyclopedias, and Tools, Questions from Master’s level of the subject and areas concerned.
• Number of questions: 100
• Type of questions: Multiple-choice
• Duration of test: 2 hours
• Total marks: 300
• Marking scheme: Each question will carry 3 marks and 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Test B will cover Research proposal and Personal Interview to test aptitude for research.

• Duration of test: 30 minutes
• Total marks: 50 (research proposal 25 marks and personal interview 25 marks)

Admit Card for BHU RET 2021

• The admit card will be released for all the candidates who submit their application on time.
• The admit card can only be downloaded online from the official BHU website.
• The candidate must carry their Aadhaar card and admit card to the exam center, without fail.
• The center at which the candidates will have to appear for the exam will be mentioned in the admit card.
• Entry into the exam hall is prohibited in the absence of admit card.

Result

• The result of BHU RET 2021 Test A is expected to be declared in the month of November 2020.
• The result will be declared on the official website of the university.
• Based on the marks obtained by the candidates, a list of the qualified candidates will be prepared.
• The counseling of the candidates will be done on the basis of the merit list.

BHU RET 2021 Counseling

• The candidates shortlisted for counseling will have to reach the counseling venue at the prescribed time and date given in the counseling call letter.
• The original documents of the candidates will be verified at the time of counseling.
• After verification of documents, Test B will be conducted.
• A final merit list will be prepared for the candidates who clear both tests A and B.
• For the RET exempted candidates final merit list will be prepared on the basis of their performance in test B and academic record.
