SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria 2022-2023: Age Criteria, Educational Qualification

SSC CGL is conducted by Staff Selection Commission every year to recruits eligible candidates for various posts in the different Ministries and Departments of the Government of India. Only candidates who fulfill the SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria 2023 will be able to appear for the exam. Candidates who fail to qualify the eligibility criteria will not be permitted to take the exam. To make it easier for aspirants, we are providing the complete information on the SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria 2023 in this article so that they can check their eligibility status effortlessly.

SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria 2023

Nationality Condition

A candidate must be a –

  1. Citizen of India, or
  2. Subject of Nepal, or
  3. Subject of Bhutan, or
  4. A Tibetan refugee who came to India before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  5. A person of Indian origin(PIO) who has migrated from Burma, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, East African Countries of Uganda, Kenya, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Malawi, Zambia, Ethiopia, Zaire, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Note:

  • Candidates from category 2, 3, 4 and 5 (mentioned above) will need to produce the certificate of eligibility from the Government of India.
  • Candidates from Category 2, 3, 4 and 5 will be allowed to appear for the exam but for the offer of appointment, they will need to produce the certificate of eligibility issues by the Government of India.

Age Criteria

Candidates can refer the table given below to know about the age limit or age criteria laid by the authority –

Date of Birth

A candidate should note that his/her Date of Birth must be recorded in the Matriculation/Secondary Examination Certificate for determining the age and no subsequent request for change will be considered by the authority.

Ex-Servicemen 3 years after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age as on the closing date.
For Group “B” posts
Central Govt. Civilian Employees who have rendered not less than 3 years regular and continuous service as on closing date for receipt of application 5 Years
Central Govt. Civilian Employees (SC/ ST) who have rendered not less than 3 years regular and continuous service as on closing date for receipt of application 10 Years
For Group “C” posts
Central Govt. Civilian Employees who have rendered not less than 3 years regular and continuous service as on closing date for receipt of application Up to 40 Years
Central Govt. Civilian Employees (SC/ ST) who have rendered not less than 3 years regular and continuous service as on closing date for receipt of application Up to 45 Years
Candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from 1st January 1980 to 31st December 1989 5 Years
Widows/ Divorced Women/ Women judicially separated and who are not remarried Up to 35 Years
Widows/ Divorced Women/ Women judicially separated and who are not remarried (SC/ ST) Up to 40 Years
Defence Personnel disabled in operation during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof 3 Years
Defence Personnel disabled in operation during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof (SC/ ST) 8 Years
Service Clerks in the last year of their color service in the Armed Forces Up to 45 Years
Service Clerks in the last year of their color service in the Armed Forces (SC/ ST) Up to 50 Years
Retrenched census employees of the Office of Registrar General of India (They will be considered only for offices under RGI in their order of merit and subject to availability of vacancies) 3 years plus length of service rendered by them in connection with census, before retrenchment, and Weightage of past service

Note:

  • Ex-servicemen who have already secured employment under Central Government in Group ‘C’ & ‘D’ posts on regular basis after availing of the benefits of reservation are NOT eligible for fee concession.
  • However, they are eligible for reservation as ex-serviceman for subsequent employment if they immediately provide undertaking to the concerned employer about the date-wise details of application for various vacancies for which he/ she will be applying for before joining the initial civil employment.
  • The period of “Call up Service” of an Ex-Serviceman in the Armed Forces will also be considered as service rendered in the Armed Forces for purpose of age relaxation, as per rules.

Certificates required

  • Candidates seeking Age-Relaxation must submit their respective Category Certificate to the Regional/Sub-Regional office during the Skill Test/Document Verification otherwise their candidature will be considered under Un-Reserved Category.
  • OBC Candidates seeking appointment on the basis of reservation must ensure that they possesses the relevant community certificate and does not fall in creamy layer on the last date of submission of the application form.

Educational Qualification

Candidates should check the following educational qualification required as on 1st August 2023 for the post of –

Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer

  • Basic Qualification: Candidates should posses a bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University.
  • Desirable Qualification: A candidate should be a Chartered Accountant or cost & Management Accountant or Company Secretary or Masters in Commerce or Masters in Business Studies or Masters in Business Administration (Finance) or Masters in Business Economics.

Junior Statistical Officer

A candidate must possess a bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University or Institute with Minimum 60% Marks in Mathematics in class 12th.

Or

A candidate should have a Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.

General Educational Requirements (For all other posts)

  • Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree from a recognized University/Institute.
  • Candidates appearing in the final year of their bachelor’s program can also apply for the exam.

CPT Mandated posts

Candidates will have to give the Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) for the posts of –

  • Assistant Section Officer (CSS)
  • Assistant Section Officer (MEA)
  • Assistant in Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) under M/o Corporate Affairs
  • Assistant (GSI) in M/o Mines.

  1. My D.O.B is 1st April,1990.

    Can I still apply for SSC-CGL.

    What are the posts I am eligible for.

    Category -OBC

    Graduation- B.COM , 51 % , SOL.

    90% marks in Maths 12th .
