Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level exam also known as SSC CGL is a national-level competitive exam. The exam is conducted by Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to recruit candidates for Group B and Group C posts in various Central Government departments.

The Commission will release SSC CGL 2024 notification for the number of vacancies most likely in April 2024. Candidates who are willing to work in various job posts in Indian Government organizations can apply for SSC CGL Exam 2024.

SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria

Candidates willing to appear in SSC CGL Exam are advised to check the eligibility criteria carefully before applying for the exam. The commission has designed some eligibility parameters which candidates have to satisfy to appear in the exam. The SSC CGL eligibility criteria include the following parameters.

Nationality 

Candidate must be a citizen of India, Nepal, or Bhutan.

Age limit

Candidate must be between the age group of 18 years- 32 years.

Educational Qualification

Candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University/institute.

Physical fitness

Candidates applying for the posts like an inspector, Sub-inspector etc. will have to pass the physical fitness test.

SSC CGL Application Form

The SSC CGL Application form will be available online mode only. Aspirants who want to apply for the SSC CGL exam 2024 must visit the official website and fill out the form on or before the due date.

To fill out the application form, candidates need to register themselves online through a valid email ID. After the successful registration, candidates will be able to access the application form.

Candidates should provide authentic and accurate details or else they won’t be allowed to appear for the exam. They also have to upload the scanned photograph, signature, and other relevant documents as per the prescribed format.

After submitting the application form, candidates should pay the required application fee. The payment of the SSC CGL application fee will be done through the online process such as debit card/credit card, internet banking, etc.

SSC CGL 2024 Application fee 

Male candidates belonging to the General and OBC categories will have to pay Rs 100/ as a mandatory application fee.

There will be no application fee for female candidates, ST, SC, PwD, and Ex-servicemen.

SSC CGL- Posts

The test is conducted for the recruitment of various government posts including Assistant, Assistant Section Officer, Assistant, Inspector, Auditor, Sub-Inspector, Tax Assistant, Junior Accountant, Assistant Account Officer, Junior Statistical Officer, Upper Division Clerk, etc.

Examination Pattern

The entrance exam for SSC CGL will be held in two tiers I.e., Tier-1, and Tier-2.  The details about both stages are given below.

SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Pattern

Tier 1 is an objective type paper that consists of a total of 100 questions from four different subjects. Each question carries 2 marks and 0.50 marks will be deducted for every wrong response. The subject-wise weightage of marks and questions is given in the table below.

SSC CGL Tier 2 Examination Pattern

In the SSC CGL Tier 2, the questions will be asked from the subjects like English, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness, whereas Statistics and General Studies (Finance & Economics) papers will only be organized for the posts of Assistant Audit Officer, and Junior Statistical Officer.

SSC CGL Syllabus

The syllabus of SSC CGL 2024 for tier 1 will comprise topics from four different subjects such as English, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning.

In the SSC CGL -Tier 2 paper, the topics are covered from five common subjects for all posts, i.e., Computer, General Awareness, Reasoning, English, and Mathematics.

Candidates are advised to check the completed syllabus for SSC CGL from the official link. A better understanding of the syllabus will help the candidate in the preparation of the exam.

Admit card

The commission will release the SSC CGL 2024 Hall Ticket at least 10 days before the date of the test. Candidates can download their SSC CGL Admit card from the official website of SSC. The admit card contains the exam details like the venue of the exam, time, date and other details.

It is an important document that must be carried to the examination center on the date of the test. Candidates will not be allowed to appear in the examination hall without holding a valid admit card.

SSC CGL Salary

Salary is one of the interesting factors for the candidates who are applying for the exam. The selection commission has divided positions based on grade pay and cities.

In SSC CGL jobs, there are 5 grade pays 4800, 4600, 4200, 2800, and 2400. As per the 7th pay commission, the SSC CGL Salary varies between Rs 25,500 – Rs 1,51,000.

SSC CGL 2024 Answer Key

Initially, the Staff Selection Commission will upload tentative SSC CGL answer keys for each tier separately. The answer key will be published on the official website 10 days after the exam. Candidates can download the answer key by providing their roll number and password.

With the help of the CGL answer key, candidates can estimate their exam scores. If a candidate faces any objection to an answer in a response sheet, he/she can challenge the provisional answer key by paying a fee of Rs 100.

SSC CGL Result 2024

The selection commission will announce the SSC CGL 2024 result separately for tier 1 and tier 2. The result of tier 2 will be considered the final result. Candidates can check their results online by visiting the official website of Staff Selection Commission.

The result will be available in PDF format.  Candidates should take the printout of their scorecard for future use.

Selection Process of SSC CGL

As per the latest revised notification, the SSC CGL selection process will be held in two tiers only. Earlier, the selection procedure of SSC CGL was done in four stages. Candidates have to clear the tier 1 and tier 2 examinations to get selected for the SSC CGL recruitment process.
