Selection of the candidates for the post of Junior Engineer in Indian Railways will be done on the basis of selection test comprising of two stages. RRB JE Exam Pattern 2023

For 1st stage of selection
- Mode of exam: The exam will be conducted as a computer based test.
- Question paper language: English and any one of the following as opted by the candidates during application process- Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu
- Duration of exam: The exam will be held for duration of 90 minutes (120 minutes for eligible PwBD candidates accompanied with scribe).
- Number of questions: A total of 100 questions will be asked in the online test.
- Total marks: The paper will carry a total of 100 marks.
- Type of questions: Multiple-choice questions will be asked in the exam.
- Marking scheme: For every correct answer, one mark will be awarded to the candidates.
- Negative marking: 1/3rd of the marks allotted for each question will be deducted for every incorrect answer

For 2nd stage of selection
- Mode of exam: The exam will be held in online mode (CBT).
- Question paper language: English and any one of the following as opted by the candidates during application process- Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu
- Duration of exam: Total duration of the exam will be 120 minutes (160 minutes for eligible PwBD candidates accompanied with scribe).
- Number of questions: A total of 150 questions will be asked in the exam.
- Total marks: The paper will carry a total of 150 marks.
- Type of questions: Objective type questions will be asked in the test.
- Marking scheme: Each question will carry one mark.
- Negative Marking: : 1/3rd of the marks allotted for each question will be deducted for every incorrect answer
