How to Prepare for SSC Stenographer Exam

Stenographer Exam preparation tips: SSC Stenographer exam 2021 will be commenced in the month of September and the candidates when have applied for the examination will be worrying how to prepare for the examination so that they can get their name placed in the final list of successful candidates. The post provides the essential tips for the candidates to crack the exam successfully.

Details about the Stenographer exam: Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is Central Government recruitment agency which selects the eligible candidates for the various posts through all India-level examination. The examination, which will be commenced online through the computer-based test, will be the only selection criteria for the posts of a stenographer. Selection of the candidates will be on the basis of the marks attained by them in the test and thereafter there will be typing tests which every candidate has to qualify to get placed on the final list of selected candidates. Having passed both of the tests, all the successful candidates will be deployed in the departments/ministries of the central government on the Group ‘C’ and Group ‘D’ stenographer posts.

How the Stenographer Tests will be commenced?

The stenographer test will be commenced in two parts. The part-I will be a written test which will be commenced online and the part-II will be the typing test. The details of both parts have been given below:

Written Test (Part-I)

  • The SSC Stenographer 2020 exam will be a computer based test (CBT).
  • The computer-based test (CBT) will have three sections of General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, English Language and Comprehension.
  • The question paper will be of 200 marks.
  • The test will be without the provision of negative marking.

 Typing Test (Part-II)

  • For the post of Stenographer (group ‘C’), the typing test will be required to qualify with the typing speed of 100 words per minute (wpm).
  • For the post of Stenographer (group ‘D’), the typing test will be required to qualify with the typing speed of 80 words per minute (wpm).
  • The time duration for the typing test will be for 10 minutes.

 Details of the syllabus for the Stenographer Exam

  • General intelligence and reasoning section will include the questions of both verbal and non-verbal reasoning.
  • The questions from the subject of General Awareness will be from current affairs, Environment and ecology, Indian economy, and Indian constitution and government policies etc.
  • Quantitative Aptitude will comprise of questions from number system, percentage, ratio and proportion, set theory and Venn diagram, Tie and distance, Profit and loss and such others. The standard of the questions will be of High school standard.
  • The section of the English language will include the questions from the English grammar and t6the English comprehension.

  • Make a commitment first to successfully qualify the exam and start making efforts for that by giving the optimal time to your studies.
  • Focus on the weaker parts of knowledge gives more time preparing for that.
  • Practice more and more as the stenographer is a speed test where candidates are required to solve the questions within a time frame.
  • Reading the newspaper on a daily basis will enhance your general awareness and the specifically the current affairs section.
  • For English, language preparation starts mugging up the vocab as many as you can.
  • The grammar knowledge will also be crucial to qualify the test.
