Maharashtra SET Exam Pattern 2022

Maharashtra SET exam is conducted by Savitribai Phule Pune University for the eligibility for the post of Assistant Professor in the University/affiliated colleges. It is important for the candidates to know the exam pattern of Maharashtra SET exam. There have been changes made by the authority in the Maharashtra SET exam pattern this year. Previously the exam was conducted in three sessions for three papers but from now onwards there will be two papers conducted in two different sessions on the same day.

The SET exam will be organized in offline mode i.e. pen and paper-based mode where the candidates will be provided an OMR answer sheet to mark the answers they seem confident in. To complete the exam, candidates will be given a total of three hours. No extra time will be provided to the candidates except to those with the disability.

Maharashtra SET exam pattern 2022

Previously the exam pattern of Maharashtra SET exam had three papers but as per the latest pattern, there will be only two papers organized on the same day. Apart from this, it is mandatory for the applicants to attempt all the questions asked in the paper.  Candidates need to prepare for the exam strictly according to the Maharashtra SET syllabus specified by the authority.  The new exam pattern of Maharashtra SET exam is as follows-

  • Exam Mode: The exam will be organized in offline mode i.e. pen and paper-based.
  • Exam Duration: The total duration of the Maharashtra SET exam will be three (3) hours.
  • Total Number of Papers: The exam will comprise of two papers i.e. Paper-I and Paper-II.
  • Language: The language of the paper will be English and Marathi except for the language papers. The questions in the language papers will be asked in the concerned language.
  • Type of Questions: The questions in the exam will be asked in objective format i.e. in multiple-choice form where the candidates will be given four choices out of which only one will be correct.
  • Total Marks: The paper will consist of a total 300 marks from which paper-I will be of 100 marks and paper-II will be of 200 marks.
  • Exam Session: The exam will be conducted in two different sessions on the same day. The exact session time will be provided here soon.
  • Marking Scheme: Candidates will be awarded 2 marks for marking the right answer.
  • Negative Marking: There will be no provision of negative marking.
  • Nature of Questions: SET exam question papers will comprise of-
    • Paper-I, which will be of general type where the teaching and research aptitude of the candidates will be assessed. Questions will be asked on general knowledge, reasoning, decision making, comprehension etc.
    • Paper-II, which will be the subject-specific paper where the questions will be asked on the subject chosen by the candidate.

Instructions to fill the OMR answer sheet

Apart from knowing the Maharashtra SET exam pattern, sometimes candidates face difficulty in filling the OMR answer sheet. The invigilators will provide a sealed question booklet along with the OMR answer sheet. Only on the command of the invigilator, candidates can break open the seal of the test booklet. Candidates should match the serial number and the series of the question booklet with that of OMR answer sheet. Here are some important points to consider while filling the OMR answer sheet-

  • Only black/blue ballpoint pens are allowed in the examination.
  • Candidates should provide their names, roll number, center number, subject code, name of examination center and signature.
  • For each question, four choices will be given and the candidates have to mark only one out of those given choices. They need to darken the bubble in the respective option given on the OMR answer sheet. Light-colored bubbles/partially marked bubbles will be considered invalid.
  • No rough work will be permitted on the OMR answer sheet, for such purpose candidates can use the space provided in the question booklet.
  • Before leaving the exam hall, candidates need to submit the OMR answer sheet to the invigilator and sign the attendance sheet serving as the proof of taking the exam.
  • Candidates can carry the question booklet with them after the exam is over.
