UPSC CMS Exam Pattern 2022- UPSC CMS is a recruitment Exam that will be conducted in order to fill the vacant seats of medical officers in various government departments. It is important for the aspiring candidates to prepare well for this exam as the competition is expected to be very stiff.

Detailed UPSC CMS Exam Pattern 2022

Part 1

Computer Based Examination (500 Marks)

• Two papers will be conducted in the Computer Based Examination as follows:

Paper 1: General Medicine and Paediatrics

Paper 2: Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Preventive & Social Medicine

• Paper 1 will be consisting of 120 questions out of which 96 will be from General Medicine and 24 from Paediatrics.
• Paper 2 will also have 120 questions (40 questions from surgery, Gynacology & Obstetrics and Preventive & Social Medicine each)
• Both Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be carrying 250 marks each.
• The duration of each paper will be 2 hours.
• All the Questions in both papers will be asked in English language only.
• Only multiple choice objective types of questions will be asked in Computer Based Exam.
• Every Question will have four options out of which only one will be correct.
• There will be a negative marking for every incorrect answer (one third of the marks assigned to that question)
• In case the candidate gives more than one answer to any question then it will be considered as a wrong answer.
• There will no negative marking in case the question is left blank (no answer given)
• Both Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be of MBBS Standard

Part 2

Personality Test (100 Marks)

• Only those candidates will be called for personality/Interview test who will qualify the computer based test.
• The interview will act as the supplement to the computer based exam and will be conducted in order to determine the following abilities of a candidate

  • Intellectual curiosity
  • Balance of judgment
  • Critical powers of assimilation
  • Alertness of mind
  • Integrity of character
