NHTET 2023: Application Form, Exam Date, Exam Pattern

NHTET 2023 application form is to be available from January 2023. National Hospitality Teachers Eligibility Test (NHTET) is conducted at the national level for the recruitment of Assistant Lecturer and Teaching Associates in NCHMCT affiliated IHMs. Candidates, willing to apply for NHTET 2023, are required to first ensure their eligibility by reading the information furnished below. NHTET 2023 Exam Date

We are providing the tentative schedule for NHTET 2023 below. Please go through the schedule given below and participate in the counseling process accordingly.

NHTET 2023 Eligibility Criteria

Please read the eligibility and ensure that you are meeting the necessary criteria. You can apply only if you meet with all the required criteria.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must hold a full time Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Administration/ Hotel Management after completing 10+2 from a recognized University/ Institute with securing 55% marks with at least 2 years Hospitality Industry Experience after getting the Degree (6 months IT is part of Courses, not to be considered as experience for this purpose).

OR

Candidates mus hold a full time Master’s Degree in Hospitality Administration/ Hotel Management with at least 55% marks from a recognized University/ Institute after full time Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Administration/ Hotel Management from a recognized University/ Institute with at least 55% marks.

Candidates having full time Bachelor Degree in Hospitality/ Hotel Administration/ Management with 55% or more marks in aggregate and thereafter appearing in the final semester (i.e. in 4th Semester)/ final year exam of the master’s degree and have passed all subjects of previous year/ semester, can also apply. It may be noted that the candidates who are in 2nd year (3rd Semester) of their Master’s Degree in Hospitality are not eligible to apply.

Age Criteria (as on 31st July of the same year)

The age of a candidate should not be more than 35 years. However, 5 years relations in the upper age will be provided to candidates of SC/ST/PD categories and 3 years for OBC categories.

The maximum age in NHTET to be held from January to May, will be counted as on 31st July of the same year. Similarly maximum age in NHTET to be held from July to October, will be counted as on 31st December of the same year in following manner:

(TA – Teaching Associates.    AL – Assistant Lecturer)

  • General and EWS Categories – TA 30 years, AL 35 years.
  • OBC Category- TA 33 years, AL 38 Years.
  • SC/ST and PD Categories- TA 35 years, AL 40 years.

NHTET 2023 Application Form

Candidates may access the NHTET application form in online mode from the official website of Tourism & Hospitality Institute Management System (THIMS) www.thims.gov.in. Only eligible candidates are permitted to apply for the entrance exam. Candidates must read the instructions given in the brouchure before they apply for the entrance test.

Here are important instructions to apply for NHTET:

  • Eligible candidates are required to visit the official website of NHTET www.thims.gov.in and read all associated details of the exam.
  • Further, you need to purchase a demand draft of the requisite amount of application fee before filling up the form, since the DD number will be required to fill in the form. In case of filling wrong DD number, the DD sent by the candidate along with print out, cannot be matched by the system and such form will liable to be rejected.
  • Candidates are also required to upload scanned copy of the password size photograph and ID card such as Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, Driving Licence and Passport.
  • All information you have furnished in the application form must be accurate.
  • Please enter your correct mobile number and email ID.
  • Candidates not having Post Graduation Degree in Hospitality, need to fill the details of experience at least of two years in the Hospitality Industry (established Hotel, registered with Govt. or classified or other Hospitality Industry) after obtaining the Degree in Hospitality. The information should be correct and factual and having documentary proof. Industrial Training done to complete the degree, will not be counted as experience. The same experience will be recorded in the NHTET certificate on the event of qualifying the exam. Therefore in case of false information about Experience during NHTET, and if a candidate fails to present the experience certificate from the same Hotel or Industry as mentioned in the NHTET Certificate, during their selection in any IHM, it will be treated under falsification of the Information and the NHTET Certificate will be cancelled at once with debarment of two chance from applying for NHTET.

After online submission of the form, the candidate will be able to get print out of his/ her filled in application form containing three pages. The same should be sent to the Council along with Demand Draft for the amount prescribed as application fee latest by the stipulated date prescribed for the same positively. No other document need to attach. Candidate must send the confirmation sheet along with Demand Draft to NCHMCT by recorded post only (Speed Post or Registered Post).

Application Fee

GEN/OBC category candidates have to make payment of Rs.800/- as application fee, whereas, this fee is Rs.400/- for PD/SC/ST category candidates.

NHTET 2023 Exam Pattern

  • There will be three papers in the test.
  • The exam will consist of only objective type questions.
  • Though, the exam is conducted only once in a year. However, in few circumstances the exam is conducted twice in a year.

Paper 1 Pattern

  • The first paper is designed in order to analyze the aptitude of candidates towards reasoning ability, teaching, divergent thinking, comprehension and general awareness.
  • There will be 50 questions of 100 marks asked in the exam.
  • There will be negative marking if you are attempting a question twice or thrice. 1/2 will be deducted for every incorrect response.

Paper II Pattern

  • The exam will consist of 50 multiple choice questions from Food science, Nutrition, General Management, hotel accounts and Strategic Management, Financial Management, Human Resource Management, Sales and Marketing and Economics.
  • Every question is associated with two marks and 1/2 gets deducted for the incorrect answer and double attempted.

Paper III Pattern

  • The exam shall contain 100 multiple choice questions from F & B Service and Management, Food Production, House Keeping Management and Accommodation Operation Management.
  • Every question is associated with two marks.

NHTET 2023 Selection Procedure

Candidates have to score the minimum qualifying marks in each paper in NHTET 2023:

NHTET 2023 Certificate Validity

The Certificate will have valid up to the period, the Candidate will remain in the maximum age prescribed to apply against any vacancy of Assistant Lecturer and Teaching Associates at NCHMCT and its affiliated IHMs.

The eligibility criteria and validity period may change in future, but the interest of the already qualified candidates will be taken care of.

At any later on stage during the validity period of the NHTET certificate, if found that the candidate furnished incorrect information and forged document to prove his/her eligibility, his/ her certificate of NHTET will be cancelled immediately and a common circular to that effect will immediately be issued to all the IHMs. His/ Her candidature will also be debarred for next two chance to sit in NHTET.

NHTET 2023 Admit Card

Candidates should download their respective admit card according to the schedule released by National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT).

No hard copy of the admit card will be sent to candidates.

Candidates are not permitted to enter to the exam without a valid admit card and original ID as uploaded while filling the application form.

NHTET 2023 Result

The list if all NHTET 2023 qualified and unqualified candidates will be uploaded at its official website www.thims.gov.in.

Those candidates want to check their answer sheet they may visit  NCHMCT office at Noida within a period of 90 days from the date of declaration of the result.
