About West Bengal Board of Madrasah Education
The Madarsah system in West Bengal has come to rise with the establishment of Calcutta Madrasah in the year 1780 by the British East India Company. It was latest renamed as the West Bengal Madrasah Education Board which is the oldest Board of Madrasah in the country. The board functions with same academic, financial, administrative powers and enjoys same facilities and privileges as enjoyed by other boards. The responsibility of Madrasah is not only to direct, supervise and control these institutes but to make them a center of excellence and premium learning.
West Bengal Board of Madrasah Education Role Activities
The board is responsible for devising syllabus, planning course material and also the examinations. It ensures that exams of students in Madrasah are successfully executed. The curriculum and syllabus is revised as advised by the committee. The subjects taught to students in Madrasah are same as that of Madhyamik systems except that of Arabic and Islam Parichay. There are two types madrasah education system functioning in the state namely Higher Madrsah Education System and Senior Madrasah Education System. The Madrasah running from class 1 to 10th are called Alim Madrasah and those running from class 1 to 12th are called Fazil Madrasah. The examinations at the Madrasah are conducted by the board itself and result declaration is also done by it.
