Established in the year 2001 by West Bengal Act XX of 2000, Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya (UBKV) is giving to the overall agricultural development of the state, West Bengal through mounting quality experts in the field of Agriculture and Allied Sciences. Accredited by ICAR, the University is considered as a torch holder of a new wave in the area of Agricultural Education. UBKV has competently compacted and is dealing with the local issues of agricultural development system in various agro-climatic conditions of northern region of West Bengal by research and development. It provides higher education in some most significant areas of agriculture in PG, UG, and doctoral levels.

Courses and eligibility criteria offered by Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya
- Bachelor of Technology – four years
Candidate must be passed 10+2 or Equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Biotechnology, Language and any other subject and have scored at least of 45% marks. There is a relaxation of 5% aggregate marks for all reserved category students.
- Bachelor of Science (Agriculture) – 2 courses
Candidate must be passed 10+2 or equivalent examination.
- Master of Science (Agriculture) – two years, (3 courses)
Candidate must be graduate or equivalent degree holder
- Doctor of Philosophy (Agriculture) – three years, (3 courses)
Candidate must be post graduate or equivalent degree holder
