TMISAT 2020: Application Form, Syllabus, Pattern, Eligibility Criteria

TMISAT 2020 will be conducted by the Tolani Maritime Institute (TMI) offering admission into B.Tech in Maritime Engineering and B.Sc in Nautical Science. Candidates interested in pursuing a remarkable career in the marine field need to apply for the entrance exam. Before applying, candidates should make sure that they follow the eligibility criteria set by the Institute for the said courses.

Since TMI is affiliated to Indian Maritime University (IMU), it is mandatory for candidates to appear for both the exams i.e. TMISAT & IMUCET respectively. Eligibility Criteria for TMISAT 2020

Candidates should satisfy the eligibility criteria laid down by the authority. They can check their status of eligibility with the help of information given below–

  • Age Criteria: Male candidates born on or after September 1st 1999 can apply. Female candidates should have been born on or after 1st September 1997. Minimum age of a candidate must be 17 years.
  • Marital Status: Only Unmarried candidates can apply for the exam.
  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed class 12th or its equivalent with minimum 60% marks in PCM subject group & minimum 50% marks in English either in class 10th or 12th.

TMISAT 2020 Application Form

To fill the application form for the TMISAT 2020, candidates need to visit its official website i.e.  The application form can only be filled via online mode. Candidates need to provide their basic details in the form such as personal details, education details, etc. The data in the form should be filled carefully as no correction window will be provided once the candidate submits the form. Applicants will also need to upload the scanned documents while filling the application form. They must make sure to pay the required amount of the application fee. Without the application fee, the applications received will be rejected by the authority. Candidates can send the printout of the filled-in application form & the necessary documents to authority enclosing the DD in case they choose to pay the fee via offline mode.

Application Fee

Applicants need to Rs. 1200/- as the application fee for the TMISAT exam. The stated fee can be paid using the debit card/credit card/net banking or through Demand Draft to be drawn in favour of “Tolani Maritime Institute” payable at Pune.

Exam Pattern

The TMISAT exam will be carried out in three stages- Online Test, Interview and Medical Examination. Other exam pattern details are as follows:

Online Entrance Exam: This exam will be conducted in MCQ format that will cover the subjects Physics and Mathematics. The questions asked will be of class 10+2 level. The duration of the exam will be 2 hours. There will be a provision of negative marking in the exam.

Interview: Candidates who qualify the online test will undergo the interview phase, where the communication skills, suitability for sea career, leadership qualities, aptitude etc. will be tested.

Medical examination: The final stage will be of medical examination that the selected candidates will undergo.  A candidate must fit the medical requirements laid down by the institute to be selected for admission.


The syllabus of the TMISAT 2020 Examination will be based on the curriculum prescribed for class 11th and class 12th. Candidates need to prepare the Physics and Mathematics part of the exam as per the level of class 11th and 12th.

Admit Card

Candidates can download the admit card for the TMISAT examination from the official website of the TMI. The admit card must be printed out and carried to the exam hall with one ID proof. A candidate failing to produce the hall ticket will not be permitted to appear for the exam. The admit card should be preserved till the admission process is finished.

Result and Selection

Applicants can check their result of the TMISAT 2020 through the official website of the TMI. Selection of a candidate will be based on the scores obtained in class 10th and 12th, Rank in IMUCET, TMISAT result, Performance in Interview, and the medical tests. Candidates who clear all the stages of the exam will be called to complete the admission related formalities.
