Thapar Institute Admission Process
Candidates who are interested in admissions to the different courses into the Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology need to fill online applications first. They can apply for any of the available programs on the basis of their eligibility. Admission into different courses is done on the basis of merit. The institute does not conduct any entrance exam for selecting the candidates. For BE/ B.Tech course, candidates are selected on the basis of JEE Main score or class 12th exam marks. In ME/ M.Tech courses, admission is granted on the basis of GATE score. For other undergraduate programs, selection is done on the basis of marks of the candidates in class 12th and for other postgraduate programs selection is done on the basis of their marks in the respective graduation program.
Placements
The institute has a separate unit, known as CLIP, which specializes in training the students and preparing them for the placements. TIET has a very good record of placements and a lot of good companies visit the campus every year for selecting the candidates. Top recruiters include Whirlpool, Edelweiss, Infosys, IBM, Samsung, Wipro, Deloitte, Zomato, JP Morgan, Maruti Suzuki, etc.
