About the institute
Founded in the year 1997, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology is a constituent college of Sikkim Manipal University. It was launched as a part of Sikkim Government and Manipal Group’s corporation to establish one of the first public-private partnerships (PPP) based institutions in the country. The SMIT is recognized by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) and University Grants Commission (UGC). It is an ISO 9001:2000 certified institute which also accredited by NBA. With having eight educational departments offering UG, PG, and doctoral degrees in different fields, the SMIT is considered as one of the best institutes for technical education in East and North-East India.
