Introduction
Punjab Agricultural University is one of the prominent State Universities. It is second oldest agricultural universities and has is a breakthrough in the Green revolution in India. The University has greatly contributed in increasing the produce of food grain production in India. It has also greatly contributed in surging the livestock and poultry production. It has indeed made outstanding recognition in the field of agricultural research, education and extension that it was recognized as one of the best agricultural universities in India in 1995.

Eligibility Criteria
- For Doctorate Course:- Students should have completed their post-graduate in Agriculture.
- For Bachelor Degree- Students must have completed their 10+2 in science and should have attained 50% marks
- For Post Graduate Degree- Graduation in agriculture is must with science stream in 10+2
Reservation of Seats
85% seats are reserved for students of Punjab and Chandigarh Union Territory. Total reservation break is like
- 25% for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes
- 5% for backward class
- 55% for General category
- 5% for Outstanding sports persons
- 3% for person with disability
15% category
- Kashmiri Migrants -2 seats
- ICAR Nominees -8 seats
Fees Structure
The fees structure of students varies as per the lodging facilities undertaken or not. For Boarders the 1st semester fee is INR 30,265 and for Non-boarder it is INR 25,590. In second semester, for a boarder is INR 17030 and non-boarders is INR 15,330. The entire fee collected from students is after deduction of processing fees of 1000 Rs. In case of PTA, ISTE student membership and ISAE student chapter fund shall be extra chargeable.
Above fees structure is subject to revision on yearly basis.
Campus and Infrastructure Facilities
The campus of Punjab Agricultural University is located in Ludhiana. The area is strongly connected by road and railway. Along with academic excellence in agriculture field, the University has also won awards of excellence in sports like hockey, cricket, basketball, swimming, gymnastic, volleyball, handball, lawn tennis, weight lifting, kabbadi and table tennis. The University has open air theatre and a well supportive learning ambience for students. There are a total of 1250 faculty members at the regional campus and main campus. It has library, auditoriums, hostel, farm facilities, laboratories and class rooms.
