Punjab Agricultural University Admission 2021: Dates, Eligibility Criteria

The Punjab Agricultural University will conduct entrance exam for providing admissions to the candidates in undergraduate, master’s diploma and doctoral courses. Only the candidates of Punjab state and the union territory of Chandigarh are eligible to apply for the university conducted entrance exam. Those who are interested (and eligible) can apply for the exam by filling an application form. Application form for PAU Admission 2021

The application form will be made available both online and offline. The candidate needs to fill the form by providing personal and academic details. The duly filled application form will be submitted with the application fee on or before the due date. The fee payment can be done online or via a bank Challan. The payment for the offline form can be done via Challan or in person, at the PAU campus, or by post.

PAU Entrance Exam Eligibility Criteria

For UG programmes:

The applicant should have passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology/Agriculture with minimum marks of 50% in aggregate.

For PG programmes:

The candidate must pass the graduation level exam in the relevant discipline with at least 60% marks.

For Ph.D programmes:

The candidate should have scored at least 70% marks in the Master’s level exam and at least 55% marks (or OCPA of 5.5) in the Bachelor’s level exam in the relevant discipline.

For Agriculture Aptitude Test

The duration of the test will be 1:30 hours and a total of 100 questions will be asked in the paper. The medium of the paper will be Hindi and Punjabi. Each question will carry 1 mark and ¼ marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.

For Common Entrance Test

The duration of the paper will be 3 hours and the paper will be available in English medium only. Each question will carry 1 mark and for each incorrect answer, 1/4th marks will be deducted. Kindly note the if the candidate opts for mathematics, each question (in mathematics only) will carry 2 marks

For Master’s Entrance Test

A total of 200 questions will be asked in 3 hours. Each question will carry 1 mark and for each incorrect answer, 1/4th marks will be deducted. The whole paper will be divided into two major sections:

Section I will contain questions from general agriculture and is compulsory for all students except those who seek admission in Extension Education. Such candidates can opt for General Agriculture or Home Science.

Section II: The questions will be asked from any of the following disciplines, as selected by the candidates:

  • Extension Education
  • Agronomy/Agricultural Meteorology
  • Entomology
  • Food technology
  • Forestry
  • Plant Pathology
  • Horticulture
  • Plant Breeding and Genetics
  • Agricultural Economics
  • Soil Science

Admit Card

The admit card will be available online and the candidates can download the admit card by providing the date of birth and students’ UID. The admit card must be carried to the examination center, or else the candidate will be debarred from taking the test.

Result

The result for the PAU entrance test will be released on the official website. The qualified candidates will be called for counseling, the details of which will be communicated to the candidates.
