PTU Phd Admission: Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar will be inviting applications from eligible candidates for admission to Phd Programme for the upcoming academic year. The admission will be offered through Entrance test which conducts once a year in the month of June/July by the university. Interested and eligible candidates can apply as per prescribed schedule.

Eligibility Criteria for PTU Phd Admission
Candidates having Master’s degree in related field of study with minimum qualifying marks are eligible to apply for the entrance test.
Candidates, who have already qualified UGC/ SLET/ CSIR Exam/GATE/ Rajiv Gandhi Fellowship awardees/ INSPIRE/ teacher-fellowship holders/ or applicants who are awarded Fellowships directly or by other funding agencies (such as CSIR/ UGC/DST) for the purpose of pursuing PhD will be excepted from entrance test.
Application Form: How to apply
Candidates, who fulfill required eligibility criteria for Punjab Technical University PhD Admission, can apply online. The link for online application and instructions for PhD Admission will be available online at the official website of University i.e. www.ptu.ac.in. Candidates should fill the application form carefully in prescribed manner. The Application should be duly verified by the Head of the Institute and submit the same along with application fee of Rs.2000/- to the Dean, Research, Punjab Technical. There is no need to send hard copies of application form and other documents to the university by courier or speed post.
Examination Pattern
The question paper will comprise of objective type questions of 90 minutes duration. The minimum qualifying percentage will be 40 (35 for candidates belonging to reserved category).The entrance test will be based on the fundamental and subjective parts of each subject whose content will be specified by the University Grants Commission for NET (UGC) examination.
Selection Criteria
The inter-se merit of applicants appeared in Phd Entrance test will be made on the basis of merit calculated as per the following criteria:
- Weightage to marks in entrance exam: 40%
- Weightage to marks in Master‘s/M.Phil courses: 40%
- Weightage to interview: 20%
Candidates, who have qualified CSIR Exam / UGC/GATE, are exempted from the above criteria. The inter-se merit of such candidates will be determined by their marks scored in CSIR Exam/ UGC/SLET/GATE.
