NTSE 2022: Application Form, Eligibility Criteria, Exam Date

NTSE 2022: National Talent Search Exam (NTSE), which came into being in 1963 as National Science Talent Search Scheme (NSTSS), is conducted to find the eligible candidates for national-level scholarship programmes. The programme has been designed with the aim to encourage and uphold academic talent so that the standard of the secondary school education can be improved. Students pursuing the class X education are eligible to apply for NTSE. With the support of NCERT, NTSE has extensively been recognized as one of the well-regarded exams to assess the academic excellence of the students. The scholarship would be provided in the following means:

  • For Class XI-XII: Scholarship of Rs.1250/ per month
  • For Undergraduate and postgraduates: Scholarship of Rs.2000/- per month
  • The amount of scholarship is fixed according to the UGC norms.

NTSE 2022 Important Dates

The dates for NTSE dates have been given in the following table:

NTSE 2022 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates need to fulfill the eligibility criteria to apply for NTSE 2022. Candidates must be pursuing the Class X to be eligible to apply for NTSE 2022 Stage I exam. Candidates of any state or union territory can apply for the examination as there is no domicile restrictions.

Those, who are pursuing their education through Open Distance Learning (ODL), are also eligible to apply for the scholarship, provided the candidate is below 18 years of age (as on 1st July of the particular year), not employed and taking the Class X exam for the first time.

NTSE 2022 Application Form

Students should contact the State/UT Liasion Officer for procuring the NTSE application form. The duly filled application form must be signed by Principal of the School should reach before the given deadline.

The application form submission dates vary from one state to another. Please contact your Liasion officer to know the last date of submission of application form and the address where the form needs to be sent. You can find the contact number and address of Liasion Officer at the official website fo NCERT i.e. www.ncert.nic.in. No application form should be sent to NCERT. All queries associated with application form will be directed to the State Liasion Officer.

Application Fee

The details related to application fee and mode of payment can be obtained from the State Liasion Officer. You have to pay for the Stage I exam only. NCERT will not charge for taking the Stage II examination.

Indian Students Studying Abroad: Indian students who are studying abroad in class X can directly appear in Stage II exam as per the rules directed in the brochure. They should fill up the form available at NCERT official website and further send the same with the photocopy of mark sheets of previous examination latest by 31st December 2018. The application form for students studying aboard will be available at NCERT website in the month of October 2018. The address where the form needs to be sent is:

NTSE Exam Pattern

The NTSE Exam 2022 will be conducted in two phases viz., stage-I and Stage-II. The NTSE-I will be a state-UT examination which will be a written test. After qualifying the Stage-I examination, Candidates will be allowed to take part in the Stage-II examination. Questions in the exam will be asked Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) will be the two parts of the question paper. The questions asked in the exam will be from Science, Maths and Social Science. The standard of the questions will be of high school level. There will be no negative marking in the exam.

NTSE 2022 Selection Procedure

State/UTs are responsible for Stage I selection procedure. Stage I selected candidates will be further allowed to take Stage II exam conducted by NCERT. The minimum qualifying marks for General/OBC category candidates is 40% in each paper. Whereas, this criterion is 32% in each paper for SC/ST/PH category candidates.

NTSE 2022 Admit card

Candidates who registered for NTSE 2022 exam successfully will be issued admit card for appearing in the exam. The admit card of NTSE 2022 for stage 1 will be released by the respective states only. Please note down, the authority will issue the admit card in offline mode only through post to the candidates. I addition, candidates can also obtain their NTSE 2022 admit card for stage 1 from the chief superintendent from the allotted examination centre. Candidate should bring their admit card at the examination center.

NTSE Syllabus

Basically, the questions of NTSE stage 1 exam will be based on class 9th and class 10th levels. However, the questions of NTSE 2022 stage 2 will be based on NCERT syllabus of 10th level. Candidates are advised to go through the syllabus carefully to score better rank in the exam.

NTSE Result 2022

The result of NTSE 2022 will be announced separately for each conducting state or Union Territories. Candidates can check or download their NTSE 2022 Result (stage 1) through online mode by entering their logging details such as registration number or roll number and date of birth in the given fields. Those who qualify the stage 1 (state level exam) will be eligible to appear for the stage 2 i.e. national level exam which is conducted by NCERT. The result of stage 2 exam of NTSE will be announced in online mode in June 2022. The scholarships will be awarded to only those who will qualify the national level NTSE 2022 exam.

NTSE Cut off 2022

State wise cut off marks will be published after the announcement of result. Candidates have to satisfy the minimum cutoff marks as specified by the exam conducting authority for both the state level and national level.

  2. I AM CURRENTLY IN CLASS 7 AND I AM WILLING TO GIVE NTSE EXAM SO IN WHICH YEAR SHOULD I HAVE TO GIVE THAT NTSE EXAM.
