About the University
Established in the year 1973 by an Act of the Indian Parliament, the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) is a central university located in Shillong, Meghalaya. The University is approved by University Grant Commission (UGC). It was launched as a regional university for the states of northeast India such as Nagaland, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh. NEHU owns 44 educational departments and two centers of study under 8 schools.
