NBHM or officially called as National Board for Higher Mathematics invites applications for the allowance of scholarships to students for pursuing PG studies for M.A./M.Sc degree in Mathematics
Required Eligibility criteria for National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM) Post Graduate Scholarships for academic year 2015-16
Only applicants satisfying any of below conditions are eligible to apply
- Candidates having a first class B.A./B.Sc degree in mathematics or candidates having a A. (Hons.) or B.Sc (Hons.) degree in Mathematics with minimum of second class grade
- Candidate in the final year of the B.A. or B.Sc course going to finish the programme by July with a first class grade (or, in case of an honors program, no less than a second class grade)
- Candidates with a good educational record who have already finished, or going to complete by July 2015, one year of a recognized M.Sc course in Mathematics
- Candidates who have done, or going to complete on or before July 2015, three or four years of a five-year Integrated M.Sc degree in Mathematics with collective marks/grade equal to a first class grade.
NBHM Post Graduate Studies (M.A./M.Sc) Scholarship in Mathematics 2015-16
Only successful students will be eligible to get a scholarship of Rs.6000/ per month, during their 2 year (one-year if the candidate is allowed the scholarship during the 2nd year) of M.A/M.Sc course; the scholarships are granted for one year at the time and are renewable at year end, matter to acceptable progress
Applicants, who got selected for the grant of the scholarship when they are in the final year of MA/M.Sc programme or doing 5 year integrated M.Sc coures, will receive the scholarship only for one year.
The candidates have to be admitted in M.A. /M.Sc degree in Mathematics in appropriate College or institute across India in order to avail of the scholarship. The amount of scholarship will be paid only via the institution/college they join.
NBHM Post Graduate Studies (M.A. /M.Sc) Scholarship 2015-16 Selection Process
Selection of candidates will be done on the basis of a written exam followed by interview of short-listed candidates.
Exam pattern:
The test will comprise of questions needing descriptive answers, mainly in the areas of analysis and algebra, and also includes other areas of mathematics enclosed in the undergraduate mathematics course. The filled application form need to be sent, along with a current passport size photograph of the candidate attached to it and a self-addressed cover to the Zonal director of the zone in which the student desires to apply for the written test.
