About National Power Training Institute, Durgapur

National Power Training Institute (NPTI) is one of the nine institutes which offers various undergraduate and postgraduate courses in power engineering. The institute was established in 1968 under the auspices of the government of India. Candidates, who want to make their career in the field of power development engineering, can take admission to pursue the different UG and PG courses.  The power training institute is controlled under the regulation of the Ministry of Power, of Government of India.

Eligibility Criteria

  • For admission into the ‘Post Graduate Diploma Course (PGDC) in Thermal Power Plant Engineering program’, candidates will be notified in leading National Newspapers/ Employment News in the month of March/April. The admission will be offered on the basis of the candidates’ score in the ‘Common Entrance Test’ (CET).
  • In B.Tech. (Power Engineering), the admission openly is  offered through WBJEE / JEE Mains.
  • Candidates can take admission in the Post Diploma Course (PDC) in Thermal Power Plant Engineering on the basis of the merit list.
  • Candidates, who are an electrician, Tradesmen or those who have passed at least 8th class,can apply for admission. 

Admission Process

Candidates can apply by submitting the application form for the course they want to pursue from the Institute. The notification will be released on the official website of the Institute. Apart from that, the institute will release the notification in the leading newspapers.
