NATA 2023: The ‘National Aptitude Test in Architecture’ (NATA) is conducted by the ‘Council of Architecture’ every year and candidates who want to pursue a bachelor level programme in architecture, can apply for the test. There is various institutions in the country which offer admission to the candidates on the basis of score secured by them in NATA. The test is commenced on the national level and after qualifying the test, candidates can apply for admission in the various institutes to pursue five years’Bachelor of Architecture(B.Arch) programme.

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates, who have passed 12th or any other equivalent exam, are eligible to apply for NATA 2023.
Moreover, they must have secured at least 50% marks and studied Mathematics as the compulsory subject at the higher secondary level.
NATA 2023 Application Form:
In order to take part in the NATA 2023, candidates will be required to fill and submit the application form through the online mode. The NATA application form will be available on the official website of ‘Council of India’. Candidates need to fill all the details in the application form as required and upload the left-hand thumb impression, scanned photo and signature as well. After the payment of the application fee as given below, candidates can submit the application form online. It is necessary for the applicants to take the printout of the application form for the future reference.
Details of the NATA Application Fee
The fee details are as given below:
- The application fee will be Rs. 1250 for General/OBC/SC/ST/female candidates.
- Candidates, who choose Dubai as their examination centre, must pay Rs. 7000 as the application fee.
- Candidates need to pay the application fee through the credit card, debit card or net banking.
Exam Pattern
The NATA Test will be conducted in the offline mode i.e. pen and paper-based exam. A total 62 questions of 200 marks will be asked in the exam. The questions will be divided into two parts i.e. Part A (Mathematics & General Aptitude) & Part B (Drawing test). In Part A, the questions will be asked in Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) form whereas Part B is a drawing test to be answered on A4 size drawing sheets. The exam has not been provisioned with negative marking for the incorrect answers of the MCQs. It is necessary for the candidate to secure minimum 25% marks each in the aptitude and mathematics section and drawing test separately.
NATA Syllabus
The NATA 2023 syllabus will be comprised of three sections i.e. Mathematics, General Aptitude, and Drawing. The topic wise syllabus for NATA exam is given below:
Mathematics:
Logarithms, Algebra, Matrices, Coordinate Geometry, Trigonometry, 3-Dimensional Co-ordinate geometry, Application of Calculus, Theory of Calculus, Statistics, Permutation and combination, and Probability.
General Aptitude:
Visualizing three dimensional objects from two dimensional drawing, Interpretation of pictorial compositions, Objects, textures related to architecture & built environment, Analytical reasoning, general awareness of national/international architects and famous architectural creations, mental ability (visual, numerical and verbal), Visualizing different sides of 3D objects, Mathematical reasoning and sets & relations
Drawing Test:
- Geometric composition, Understanding scale and proportion of objects, shape, building forms and elements, colour texture, aesthetics, harmony and contrast
- Drawing of patterns – both geometrical and abstract
- Conceptualization and visualization through structuring objects in memory
- Form transformations in 2D and 3D like union, subtraction, rotation, surfaces and volumes. Creating 2D and 3D compositions using given shape and forms
- Perspective drawing, sketching of urban scape and landscape
- Generating plan, elevation, and 3D views of objects
- Common day-to-day life objects like furniture, equipment etc., from memory
Admit Card
The admit card of NATA 2023 has released through online mode in April 2023. Please note down the admit card will be issued by the authority to the registered candidates only. The admit card will bear the important exam details like name of the candidate, date & time of exam, roll number, venue of the test center, etc. It is mandatory for all the candidates to bring one of the photo ID proof along with the admit card/appointment letter.
Result
NATA 2023 Result will be announced by the officials a few weeks after the successful completion of the examination. Candidates will check their results through online mode from the official website of conducting body. The result of NATA 2023 will be published in three formats i.e. marks scored out of 200, merit list, percentile score. Candidates are advised to keep the print copy of the result for admission procedure.
Counselling Procedure
The process of NATA Counselling will be held by the participating Institutions Individually. No counselling will be organized by the Council of Architecture (COA). After the announcement of result, candidates can apply to get B.Arch admission into various Institutions & university based on their NATA Scorecard. Please note down the scorecard of NATA 2023 will be valid only for the academic year 2023-2024.
