MHT CET 2020

MHT CET 2020 will be conducted for selecting candidates for admissions in engineering, technology and pharmacy courses in institutions of Maharashtra. The candidates who wish to appear for this exam can apply through online mode from 7th January 2020. The exam will be conducted on 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 13, 14, 28, 29, 30, 31 Jul 2020 and 3, 4 & 5 August 2020.

Eligibility Criteria for MHT CET 2020

It is necessary that the aspiring candidates fulfill the below-mentioned MHT CET 2020 eligibility criteria:

Age Criteria:

There is no age limit to appear for MHT CET 2020.

Candidature type:

Maharashtra State Candidature:

Type A: The applicants who are domicile of Maharashtra or are born in Maharashtra and have completed their SSC and HSC or Diploma in engineering or B.Sc exam from the state only fall under this category.

Type B: Those candidates whose mother/ father/ both are a domicile of the Maharashtra state fall under this category.

Type C: The candidates whose mother/ father/ both are Central Government employees posted in Maharashtra before the last date of application fall under this category.

Type D: The applicants whose mother/ father/ both are employee/ retired employee of Maharashtra fall under this category.

Type E: Those passing their SSC/ HSC exam from a recognized institution located in a disputed Maharashtra Karnataka Border Area or from Maharashtra, residing in the disputed Maharashtra Karnataka Border area and whose Mother tongue is Marathi fall under this category.

All India Candidature: The candidates of Indian nationality can apply for CET under this category.

Minority Candidature: Those belonging to a Linguistic/ Religious Minority Community from Maharashtra are eligible under this category.

Jammu and Kashmir Migrant Candidature:

  • The children of citizens, who are displaced from J&K to any part of India or to a relatively safer place in J&K from 1990 onwards due to terrorist activities; or
  • The children of officers belonging to IAS, IPS, IFS, or military and paramilitary forces transferred to J&K and J&K police who joined the post on or before the last date for submission of application.

Qualification criteria:

For engineering/ technology course:

  • The candidates should have passed HSC or equivalent exam with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/ Biology/ Biotechnology/ Technical or Vocational courses and a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of these subjects.
  • The candidates who have passed Diploma in engineering & technology or B.Sc degree with Mathematics as a subject in 12th standard and have secured at least 50% marks in the qualifying exam can apply also for the MHT CET 2020.

For pharmacy course:

The applicants should have passed their HSC or equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics / Biology/ Biotechnology securing at least 50% marks (45% marks for C/ ST/ PWD candidates of Maharashtra) in aggregate of these subjects.

For Pharm D.:

  • The applicants who have passed their HSC or equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/ Biology/ Biotechnology securing at least 50% marks in aggregate of these subjects are considered eligible.
  • The candidates who have passed their Diploma in Pharmacy from institutes affiliated to State Board and approved by competent central authority and State Government and have obtained at least 50% marks can apply.


  • A relaxation of 5% in the qualifying marks is given to the SC/ ST/ PWD candidates of Maharashtra.
  • For the candidates of All India candidature and J&K candidature, the score of JEE (Main) 2020 will be preferred over MHT CET 2020 (for BE/ B.Tech courses). As per their choice, they may or may not appear for the CET.

MHT CET Application Form 2020

The interested and eligible candidates can apply for the entrance test in online mode from the website The candidates will have to provide their personal email id, mobile number, password and other required information in the online form. The password entered will be used to complete the process of application form filling. The applicants will also have to upload the scanned images of their photograph and signature. The duly filled MHT CET 2020 application form will be submitted along with the application fee. The application fee payment can be done via Internet Payment, Credit Card, Debit Card, Internet Banking, IMPS, Cash Cards, etc.

MHT CET 2020 Exam Pattern

The entrance test will be conducted in offline mode (OMR Sheet). There will be a total of 3 papers in the exam and the duration of each paper will be 1:30 hours. A total of 250 questions carrying 300 marks will be asked in the exam. Each question in paper I will carry 2 marks and questions in Paper II and III will carry 1 mark each. There will be no negative marking. All the questions will be of objective type. The medium for the examination will be English/ Marathi/ Urdu for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. The candidate seeking admission to first year Engineering and Technology degree courses must appear for Paper I and II both.

The candidate seeking admission to first year Pharmacy/ Pharm. D. degree course must appear for Paper II as well as in Paper I and/or III.


The MHT CET 2020 syllabus as prescribed by the Director, Technical Education, Mumbai is given below:

  • Physics: Measurements, Scalars and Vectors, Force, Friction in solids and liquids, Refraction of Light, Ray optics, Magnetic effect of electric current, Magnetism.
  • Chemistry: Some basic concepts of chemistry, States of matter: Gases and liquids, Redox reaction, Surface chemistry, Nature of chemical bond, Hydrogen, s-Block elements (Alkali and alkaline earth metals), Basic principles and techniques in organic chemistry, Alkanes.
  • Mathematics: Trigonometric functions, Trigonometric functions of Compound Angles, Factorization Formulae, Straight Line, Circle and Conics, Sets, Relations and Functions, Probability, Sequences and series.
  • Botany: Diversity in organisms, Biochemistry of cell, Plant Water Relations and Mineral Nutrition, Plant Growth and Development.
  • Zoology: Organization of Cell, Animal tissues, Human Nutrition, Human Respiration

How to Prepare for MHT CET 2020

Here are given certain basic preparation strategy that can help the candidates in clearing their entrance exam:

  • There is enough time left in the entrance test. Instead of wasting it, utilize the time in the best possible manner. You can effectively manage your time by preparing a time table.
  • Study on a regular basis. Just making a time table is not enough. Make sure that you are seriously following this time table.
  • Only prefer the authentic sources for collection of study material. NCERT is considered as the best source of study. In addition to this, you can also refer to some other authorized books of well-known publishers for your studies.
  • Try to practice sample papers as much as you can. However, it is necessary that you have gained a fundamental knowledge of all topics before you start practicing these sample papers.
  • Revision is also important along with the studies. With proper revision, you do not forget the topics that you have studied, as you proceed with the new topics.

MHT CET Admit Card

The admit card to appear for the CET exam will be made available on the official website. The candidates must take a printout of the admit card and carry it to the exam center along with a valid identity proof. Those who do not bring a valid MHT CET 2020 admit card will not be allowed to appear for the examination.


The MHT CET 2020 result will be announced on the official website after the scrutiny of the answer sheets. The candidates will be able to download their mark sheet from the website by providing the required credentials. The competent authority will also publish a merit list and will invite the candidates for participating in the admission process.
