Mangalore University PhD Admission 2021: Mangalore University will be inviting applications in prescribed form from the eligible candidates for admission to Ph.D programme in the university’s P.G. Departments/ Recognized Research Centre/ Constituent Colleges/ Institutions having an affiliation for Ph.D Programme for the academic session 2021-2022. Eligibility Criteria for Mangalore University PhD Admission 2021
Candidate must satisfy prescribed eligibility Criteria before applying admission to PhD programme. The required eligibility conditions are as follows:
- Candidates holding any Master’s Degree of Mangalore University or any other University considered as equivalent thereto with at least of 55% marks (50% in case of candidates from SC/ST/Category – I and Differently-abled applicants) in aggregate or equivalent grade are eligible to apply.
- The teachers employed in University/ affiliated colleges before 31.3.1997 and are ongoing in service on a regular basis will be permitted if they possess at least of 50% of marks at the Master’s Degree level.
- Candidates, who qualify U.G.C/ CSIR (JRF) Examination/ SLET/ NET/ GATE/ Teacher Fellowship holder/ M.Phil degree holder or Research candidates working under sponsored Major Research Projects, are excused from appearing for Entrance Test.

Downloaded applications will be accompanied by a Demand Draft Challan of Rs 1050/ (Rs 525/- for SC/ST and Category I candidates) of any Nationalized Banks drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, Mangalore University as necessary entrance fee. Duly filled in applications completed in all respects will be submitted in two sets along with necessary documents on or before the due date to the Chairman of the concerned P.G. Department/ Head of the Recognized Research Centre/ Principals of the institutions having affiliation for Ph.D. Programme.
Examination Pattern
- The Entrance Test will comprise of 2 papers of 50 marks each.
- The duration of exam will be 90 minutes.
- The first paper will include questions from the general aspect of subject / or Research Methodology.
- The second paper will contain questions related to the field of specialization given at the masters’ level in the department.
- The paper will contain the objective type and/or short answer type questions which based on syllabi of the PG Programmes of the respective subjects.
Selection Process
Selection of candidates for Ph.D programmes will be done on the basis of Centralized Entrance Test, Interview and marks scored in the Qualifying Examinations in the Ratio of 50:50 and overall minimum 50% marks (45% for candidates belonging to SC/ST/Category – I) and according to Merit Cum Reservation Policy.
