KVPY 2020: Online Registration, Application Form, Eligibility, Dates

Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana 2020 or KVPY 2020 is a fellowship program to encourage basic science students to make a career in research. The primary aim of this program is to identify talented students and motivate them to pursue their career in science research. In order to select the candidates, the authorities will conduct an aptitude test followed by an Interview. The aptitude test will take place in online mode – computer-based test.

It is compulsory for every candidate to qualify both the aptitude exam and interview to get selected. The candidates who are looking to apply for KVPY 2020 need to submit the application form in online mode. It is expected that the application process of KVPY will start from the month of July 2020.

KVPY 2020 Main Highlights

  • The examination authority releases an official notification of KVPY on every 2nd Sunday of July month.
  • Only Indian students who want to make their career in the field of science research are eligible.
  • Authorities will also conduct the interview in order to shortlist the best candidates from the students who will clear the aptitude test.
  • The final merit will be based on the performance of a candidate in both aptitude test and interview.
  • Please note that KVPY does not accept bulk applications from schools.
  • Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) restricts students from getting scholarships from multiple sources. For example – if a student is already receiving a scholarship from any other source then he/she have to leave that scholarship in order to get KVPY 2020.

Eligibility Criteria

Every candidate should check the eligibility criteria carefully before submitting the application form.


  • The KVPY Scholarship 2020 will be given only to the Indian Nationals studying in India.

Stream SA

  • Candidates must be studying in the 11th standard (Science subjects) in the academic year 2020-21.
  • For this fellowship, the aspirant should have at least 75% aggregate marks in the Mathematics and Science subjects at class 10th level (65% for SC/ST/PWD).
  • The applicants must have passed class 10th in the year 2019 (preceding year).
  • Please note that the scholarship under this stream will be activated only if the student joins a UG course in basic science in the academic year 2022-23. Basic sciences course include B.Sc, B.S, B.Stat, B.Math, Int. M.Sc/ Int. M.S.
  • The candidate also needs to score at least 60% aggregate marks (50% for SC/ST/PWD) at 10+2 level.

Stream SX

  • This scholarship is for the students who are going to study in the 12th standard (science subjects) during the academic year 2020-21.
  • Scholarships will be activated only if the candidates score 60% marks in the class 12th (50% for SC/ST/ PWD) exam in mathematics and science subjects (physics/ Biology/ chemistry). The students must join B.Sc/ B.S/ B.Stat/B.Math/Int. M.Sc/ Int. M.S for the session 2021–22.
  • Candidates looking for this internship should have at least 75% marks at the class 10th level (65% for SC/ ST/ PWD)
  • Aspirants who are studying in the 2nd year of Cambridge International Examination Board and looking to join a UG course in Basic science in the academic year 2020-21 can also apply. Such candidates must have at least 75% marks (65% marks for SC/ ST/ PWD category candidates) in their class 10th

Stream SB

  • The students must be enrolled in the 1st year of UG program in basic science (in the academic year 2020-21)
  • Aspirants should have passed the 12th class board exam with at least 60% marks in mathematics and science subjects (50% marks for SC/ ST/ PWD candidates)
  • The applicant must have cleared the 12th board exam in the preceding academic year.

Note: The aspirants who are intended to pursue or pursuing UG course in distance mode are not eligible.

KVPY 2020 Application Form

The application form for Kishore VaigyanikProtsahanYojana 2020 will release in online mode through the official website i.e. Students who are looking to apply can fill the application form from the month of July 2020.

  • While filling the application form, the candidates have to provide all the necessary educational, personal and contact details.
  • The students should provide the details very accurately because the documents will be verified later.
  • In addition to the details, the candidates also need to upload their passport size photograph and signature in the application form.
  • The aspirants should submit the application form after verifying all the details.
  • Candidates have to pay the application fee after the submission of an application form.
  • A unique application form number will be generated for every aspirant after submitting the application form.
  • Take a printout of the submitted application form and keep it safe for the future requirements.
  • Please note that the students do not need to send a printout of the application form.

Application Fee

  • The application fee is different for the candidates of various categories.
    • General/ OBC category: Rs. 1000/-
    • SC/ ST/ PWD category: Rs. 500/-
  • Applicants can pay the fee in online mode using a credit card, debit card or net banking. Application fees can also be paid offline using an E-Challan.

Important Points regarding the exam pattern

  • It is compulsory to attempt all questions in the Stream SA
  • For Stream SB/SX, the candidates can attempt any 3 sections in Part I and any 2 sections in Part II.
  • In case a candidate attempt more than the required section then best three sections in part I and the best two sections in part II will be considered.

KVPY 2020 Syllabus

  • The authorities have not prescribed any fixed syllabus for KVPY exam 2020.
  • Aptitude test is designed in such a way that it tests the candidates understanding and analytical ability.
  • However, the aspirants may prepare as per the syllabus of class 10th/ 12th/ 1st year B.Sc/ B.S/ B.Stat/B.Math/Int. M.Sc/ Int. M.S (as applicable)

KVPY 2020 Admit card

  • Eligible candidates who will submit the application form before the last late can download the admit card in online mode.
  • Aspirants have to provide their application form number on the official website in order to download the admit card.
  • At the time of an exam, a virtual calculator will be available on the screen of the candidates. The aspirants are suggested not to carry their calculator or any electronic device to the exam centre.
  • It is essential to carry the admit card at the exam centre for every candidate. No candidate will be allowed to take the exam without an admit card.
  • Along with the admit card, the aspirant also needs to carry one ID proof such as valid school/ college ID, Aadhar Card, passport, etc.

KVPY 2020 Result and Interview

  • After conducting the aptitude test, the authorities will release the result within a few weeks of the exam date.
  • The students who will clear the aptitude test will be invited to take part in the interview process.
  • Final result of the selection process will be announced after the interview.
  • The final merit list will be prepared by giving 75% weightage to the aptitude test and 25% weightage to the interview.
  • In order to check the result, the candidates have to provide their registration number/ roll number at the official website.
  • The students who will finally get selected for the KVPY 2020 scholarship need to get their documents verified before the last date.
