About Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University
Founded in 2010 by Government of Kerala, The Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU) is one of the leading universities in the state of Kerala. It was set up to give emphasis to education, development, and research in the livestock sector. The motto of KVASU is ‘ideas in action’ which is marked in the working and management of the university that emphasizes on the improvement of the farming society. Located in the scenic hilly land of Pookot in Wayanad district, in the Indian state of Kerala, the university offers courses at postgraduate, undergraduate, diploma and certificate levels and grants doctoral programs as well.

Courses and their eligibility criteria offered by Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University
- Under Graduate Diploma in Medicine (1 year)
Applicant must be cleared 10+2 or equivalent examination or have passed VHSc with Biology as one of major subject.
- Bachelor of Veterinary Sciences- five years
Candidate must be passed (10+2) or have done High School Senior Secondary examination or 10+2 conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) or State Board or Equivalent authority. They must have secured at least of 50% Aggregate with English as an important subject. There is relaxation of 5% in the minimum aggregate marks for candidates belonging to SC/ST category.
- Master of Veterinary Science- (2 courses)
- MVSC – two years
Applicant must be hold Graduate and bachelor’s degree got through the 10+2+3 system or an equivalent qualification with at least of 50% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA of any of the Universities integrated by an act of the central or state government in India. There is relaxation of 5% in the minimum aggregate marks for candidates belonging to SC/ST category.
- MVSc in Veterinary Anatomy & Histology- two years
Candidate must be Graduate and hold bachelor’s degree in Science/Engineering discipline got through the 10+2+4 system or an equivalent qualification with at least of 55% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA of any of the Universities integrated by an act of the central or state government in India. 50% aggregate marks for reserved category candidates.
- Doctor of Philosophy in Veterinary Science- three years (3 courses)
Applicant must be Post Graduate degree holder in a related discipline or an equivalent qualification with at least of 60% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA of any of the Universities integrated by an act of the central or state government in India. 55% aggregate marks for reserved category candidates.
- Master of Science- (3 courses)
- MS in Biostatistics –two years
Eligibility criteria is same as per the MVSC degree programme
- MS in Quality Systems in Dairy Processing- two years
Applicants must have passed B. Tech (Food Technology/ Dairy) or Graduation in Chemistry/ Microbiology/ Food Science/Biology from a renowned University.
- MS in Wildlife Studies- two years
Candidate must have done Bachelor’s Degree in Biosciences (Zoology, Botany, Forestry, Veterinary Science etc)
- Bachelor of Science- three years
Eligibility criteria is same as per the MVSC degree programme
- Doctor of Philosophy in Agriculture- three years
Eligibility criteria is same as per the Doctor of Philosophy in Veterinary Science programme
- Graduate Diploma in Agriculture- two years
Applicant must have Pass in Pre-degree or correspondent with science subjects or VHSE with Livestock Management Dairying (Milk Products) or (Dairy Husbandry)
- Under Graduate Diploma in Agriculture- one year
Applicant must be (10+2) or Equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry/ Language, Biotechnology and another subject. Candidate must have scored at least of 45% marks. 40% marks for all reserved category candidates.
- Bachelor of Technology –four years
Eligibility criteria is same as per the Phd (agriculture)
