KV Admission 2023-24: Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has released the admission notification for the academic year 2023-24. The online registration for class 1 will be starting from 27th March 2023. First, admission process for class I will be conducted and after that admission process for rest of the classes will be carried out.

Application process for class I will be carried out in online mode, while it will be carried out in offline mode for other classes. Eligibility Criteria for KVS Admission 2023-24

The following criteria of age (as on 31st March 2023) should be met by the candidates to be eligible for Kendriya Vidyalaya Admission 2023-24:

KVS Admission Application Process 2023

Application Process for class I:

Application form for admission to class I will be released at the official website of KVS Sangathan www.kvsangathan.nic.in. To fill the form, the parents need to provide basic details of their wards like name, gender, date of birth, etc and email address & phone number for communication purpose. Once these details are filled and submitted, an OTP will be received on the registered phone number. This OTP needs to be verified after which the parents can proceed with the uploading of scanned documents (photograph and birth certificate of their ward). Choice for Kendriya Vidyalaya (up to three) should be provided in the form as well. After this, the application form can be submitted successfully to generate an application number. This number should be noted down and kept safe for future reference. There will be no cost of application.

Application Process for class II onward:

Parents can obtain the application form for admission to class II and onward by visiting the principals’ office in any Kendriya Vidyalaya. Providing basic personal and education details like name, date of birth, gender, school name, subjects studied, marks obtained, etc, the application form can be filled. Choice for Kendriya Vidyalaya (up to three) should be provided in the form as well. Duly filled application form along with copies of important documents should be submitted back at the Principal’s office within the given time limit. The parents are suggested to keep a copy of the application form with them for future reference. There will be no cost of application.

Documents to be submitted: Copies of the following documents should be enclosed with the application form before submitting it to the Principal’s office-

  • Residence proof
  • Birth certificate issued by the authority competent to register births as proof of age, for class II to VIII
  • Transfer certificate issued by a recognized school for proof of age for class II onwards, in case of no birth certificate is available up to class VIII
  • Proof of relationship of either of the child’s parent with the KVS employee (serving or retired), for grandchildren of KVS employee
  • Proof of relationship of either of the child’s parents with the Hon’ble Member of Parliament or PSU employees, for grandchildren of Hon’ble Member of Parliament and PSU employees
  • Disability certificate issued by civil surgeon/ rehabilitation center or any other competent authority for handicapped child, if applicable (in case the handicap of the child can be visually seen, the child may be accepted without a certificate)
  • Category certificate issued by the competent authority for child belonging to the SC/ ST/ EWS/ OBC (NCL)/ BPL category, if applicable (certificate of parents may be accepted initially but the certificate of the child should be submitted within three months from the admission date)
  • Service certificate showing the number of transfers during the preceding 7 years duly signed and stamped by the head of office bearing the name, designation and other relevant particulars in block letters
  • Certificate of retirement for uniformed Defence employees

Preparation of Merit List

  • After the application form and the documents are successfully submitted and scrutinized, preparation of selection list will begin.
  • Different selection lists might be drawn depending on the number of applications received.
  • Parents will be able to check their ward’s name in this list from the official website and notice board at all KVs.
  • Further details about the admission process will be communicated to the parents whose ward’s name are included in the selection list.

KV Admission Process 2023-24

Admission process of the shortlisted candidates will be conducted as per their names in the selection list and the given rules-

  1. Class I: Draw of lots of the registered candidates will be conducted by a committee set up by every KV for class I admission.
  2. Class II to VIII: Priority category system will be followed for admission to class II to VIII. Lottery system might be followed in case number of applications received are more than number of seats.
  3. Class IX: An admission test of Science, Social Science, Mathematics, English and Hindi subjects carrying 100 marks (20 marks for each subject) and duration 3 hours will be held for class IX admission.
  4. Class XI: Selection of candidates for class XI admission is done on the basis of their performance in class X board exams. For Science stream, a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate of all subjects and 55% marks for Commerce stream is required. For Humanities stream, only pass marks in class 10th board is required.
  5. Class X & XII: Admission to these classes will be given only in the case where vacancy appears. Admissions will be governed by the Deputy Commissioner of the Region concerned subject to the condition that the candidate is studying in a CBSE-affiliated school with score not less than 55% marks in the previous class.

FAQs

Is there any relaxation in the age limit prescribed for admission?

A relaxation of 2 years in the upper age limit will be given to the physically challenged candidates.

Can a non-KV candidate apply for admission?

Yes, but such candidates will only be considered if any seat remains vacant after enrolling KV students. Similarly, students from boards other than CBSE will be considered for admission for vacant seats.

What if I made any error in filling my ward’s application form?

Any incorrect information in the application form can make it liable for rejection. No provision for correction is provided after the submission of application form and therefore care should be taken to keep it error-free.

For class IX admission test, what are the required passing marks?

Securing more than 33% marks in the test will make the children eligible for admission to class IX (25% for SC/ ST// PH candidates).

Isn’t there any age limit for admission to class XI and XII?

No. Only a pass in the previous class examination is required, irrespective of the age, for admission to class XI and XII.
