KCET is conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority for admission into various courses of Engineering /Technology, Agriculture, Medical, Architecture and many other courses provided by the institutions/colleges in the state. Candidates gearing up for the exam must fulfill the KCET Eligibility Criteria 2021 in order to appear for the exam. Candidates seeking admission in Medical/Dental/Ayush courses must qualify NEET-UG. Similarly, candidates seeking admission in Architecture must qualify in the NATA exam. Through this article, students will get useful insight on the KCET Eligibility Criteria 2021. KCET Eligibility Criteria 2021
Nationality
Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply for KCET Entrance exam.
Age Criteria
For Medical/Dental/Ayush Courses: A candidate must be at least 17 years old as on 31st December 2020.
For Medical/BDS Course
Qualifying Examination: A candidate must have passed class 12th or its equivalent or 2nd year PUC are eligible to apply.
Subjects: A candidate must have passed the qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry & Biology as optional subjects and English as one of the study languages.
Minimum Marks: A candidate must have scored minimum 50% aggregate marks (40% for SC/ST/Category-I/OBC-2A, 2B, 3A & 3B) in the PCB Subjects.
Note: Candidates must qualify NEET-UG to be eligible for admission in Medical/Dental courses.
For Ayush Courses
Qualifying Examination: A candidate must have passed class 12th or its equivalent is eligible to apply.
Subjects: A candidate must have passed the qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry & Biology as optional subjects and English as one of the study languages.
Minimum Marks: A candidate must have scored minimum 50% aggregate marks (40% for SC/ST/Category-I/OBC-2A, 2B, 3A & 3B) in the PCB Subjects.
Note:
- Candidates must qualify NEET-UG 2019 to be eligible for admission in Ayush courses.
- The Ayush course includes Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy & Yoga.

For Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry course
Qualifying Examination: A candidate must have passed class 12th or its equivalent is eligible to apply.
Subjects: A candidate must have passed the qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English.
Minimum Marks: A candidate must have scored minimum 50% aggregate marks (40% for SC/ST/Category-I/OBC-2A, 2B, 3A & 3B) in the Subjects given above.
For B.Pharma course
Qualifying Examination: A candidate must have passed class 12th or its equivalent or 2nd PUC is eligible to apply.
Subjects: A candidate must have passed the qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) or with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM).
OR
A candidate should have passed Diploma in Pharmacy from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India.
Minimum Marks: A candidate must have scored minimum 45% aggregate marks (40% for SC/ST/Category-I/OBC-2A, 2B, 3A & 3B) in the Subjects given above.
For Pharma.D course
Qualifying Examination: A candidate must have passed class 12th or 2nd PUC is eligible to apply.
Subjects: A candidate must have passed the qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) or with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM).
OR
A candidate should have passed Diploma in Pharmacy from an institution approved by the Pharmacy council of India.
Note: Candidates seeking admission in Pharma.D through lateral entry should submit the photocopy of the final year Marksheet of their Diploma.
For Engineering/Technology course
Qualifying Examination: A candidate must have passed class 12th or its equivalent is eligible to apply.
Subjects: A candidate must have passed the qualifying examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and Chemistry / Bio‐Technology / Biology / Electronics /Computer Science as optional subjects with English as one of the study languages.
Minimum Marks: A candidate must have scored minimum 45% aggregate marks (40% for SC/ST/Category-I/OBC-2A, 2B, 3A & 3B) in the Subjects given above.
Note: If the mark secured by a candidate in Chemistry is less than the required percentage, then the marks in Biotechnology/Biology/Electronics/Computer science will be considered.
For Architecture course
Qualifying Examination: A candidate must have passed class 12th or its equivalent is eligible to apply.
Subjects: A candidate must have passed the qualifying examination with Mathematics as one of the optional subjects.
Minimum Marks: A candidate must have scored minimum 50% aggregate marks (40% for SC/ST/Category-I/OBC-2A, 2B, 3A & 3B, and PWD candidates) in all the Subjects.
Note: Candidates seeking admission in Architecture course must appear for the NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) or JEE-paper II examination.
Important Note
- A candidate who is appearing in the qualifying examination, i.e., 2nd PUC / Class 12th in 2021, whose result is awaited, may apply and appear for KCET provided he/she pass the qualifying examination with the required percentage.
- Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from Karnataka State Open University are not eligible to apply.
