UPSC IES/ISS Eligibility Criteria 2022: Nationality, Age Limit, Qualification

Before a candidate applies for any examination, there are some standards which are decided by the authority for the purpose of eligibility. There are some age, educational and other criteria for the candidates which decide who can apply for the UPSC IES/ISS examination. So, it is must for all applicants to ensure their eligibility before filling up the application form. UPSC IES/ISS Eligibility Criteria 2022

Nationality of the candidate

  • Must be a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal, Subject of Bhutan, Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1962 for the permanent settlement.

Age Limit

  • Candidates having age between 21 years and 30 years can apply for the IES and ISS Examination.
  • The age relaxation of up to 5 years will be given to the candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe.
  • Candidates of OBC category will have the age relaxation of 3 years.
  • Ex-servicemen of Military service (at least 5 years of service) will be given the relaxation of 5 years.
  • Handicapped will have age relaxation of 10 years.

The documents for the proof of date of birth

  • The age of the candidates will be deemed to be the exact date of birth which will be notified in their matriculation or secondary school certificate.
  • No other documents shall be regarded as the proof of date of birth of the candidates such as the affidavits, horoscopes or the birth certificate issued by the municipality Corporation etc.
  • As the date of birth of the candidates is recorded in the commission, no further change will be made to that in the future on any ground or on any reason.

Educational Qualifications

  • A candidate can apply for the IES and ISS Examination if he has got the Post Graduate Degree in Economics/Applied Economics from a recognized University for the IES Exam.
  • He has the Post Graduate Degree in Statistical/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics for the ISS Examination.
  • Candidates appearing for the examination can also apply but their result should be out before the detailed application form is filled.
