UPSC IES/ISS 2024: Application Form (from 10 April), Eligibility Criteria, Exam Date

The Union public service commission (UPSC) will organize the Indian Economic Service and Indian Statistical Service Examination 2024 or UPSC IES/ISS 2024. This exam will screen the candidates for the post of Indian Economic Service officers and Indian statistical service officers. It is a two-tier examination in which the candidates have to clear an interview/ personality test after clearing the written exam.

UPSC IES/ISS 2024 Eligibility Criteria

The candidates must read the eligibility criteria given below before applying for the UPSC IES/ISS 2024 exam.

Nationality

The candidates with the following nationality can apply.

  • A citizen of India
  • A subject of Nepal or Bhutan.
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with an intention to permanently settle here.
  • An Indian origin person migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Srilanka or East African countries of Uganda, Kenya, the United Republic of Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Ethiopia and Zaire or from Vietnam.

Age Limit

  • The age of a candidate should be between 21 to 30 years. (Relaxation in upper age will be given to the candidates from reserved categories)

Educational Qualification

For Indian Economic Service

  • The candidate must possess a PG degree in Business Economics/ Economics/ Econometrics/ Applied Economics.

For Indian Statistical Service

  • The aspirant must have a Bachelors degree in mathematical statistics/ statistics/ applied statistics.

UPSC IES/ISS Application Form 2024

The application form for UPSC IES/ISS 2024 exam will be released in online mode through the official website of UPSC. The aspiring candidates need to visit the official website i.e. https://www.upsc.gov.in/ and have to register themselves for the exam. While filling up the application form, the candidates have to provide all the necessary educational, personal and contact details in the application form. Along with the details, the candidates have to upload the scanned copies of their passport size photograph and signature.

The candidates should keep a print out of duly submitted application form for the future reference. However, there is no need to send the hard copy of application form to the authorities.

Application Fee

The application form will not be considered valid unless the candidate pays the prescribed application fee. The application fee for UPSC IES/ISS 2024 exam is given below:

For Male candidates from General/ OBC categories: Rs. 200/-

For Female/SC/ST/PwBD candidates: Nil (Exempted from the application fee)

Mode of payment

  • The candidates can pay the application fee using Visa/Master/RuPay Credit/Debit Card or SBI internet banking.
  • The aspirants can also pay the application fee by cash at any branch of SBI using Pay-in-slip.

Note: The Statistics I and Statistics II subject of the Indian Statistical Service exam will be carrying 80 objective type questions. Rest of the papers will be subjective/ Descriptive in nature.

UPSC IES/ISS syllabus 2024

The syllabus of UPSC IES/ISS 2024 exam is quite diverse in nature. The candidates need to study different topics for IES and ISS exam. However, the syllabus for General English and General Studies subject will be common for both IES and ISS exam as given below:

General English: In this section, the candidates have to write an essay in the English language. The other questions in this section will be set in such a way that they can judge the candidate’s understanding of English, word power etc. The passage will generally be a summary or précis type.

General Studies: The questions in this section will be asked from current affairs, Indian Polity including the political system, Constitution of India, Indian History, and Geography etc.

UPSC IES/ISS 2024 Admit Card

The candidates aspiring to appear for the UPSC IES/ISS 2024 exam can download their admit card from the official website of UPSC. The information regarding the date of exam, schedule of exam, examination venue will be mentioned on the admit card. Candidates please note that the UPSC will not send any admit card by post or any other offline method. It is expected that the admit card will be available three weeks prior to the date of exam.

UPSC IES/ISS Result 2024

The applicants who will appear for the UPSC IES/ISS 2024 exam will be able to check their result from the official website. A direct link to check the result will also be made available on this page. The result will be in the form of a PDF file. In order to check their result, the candidates have to search their name in the PDF file.  The selected candidates will be required to submit the Detailed Application Form (DAF).

The original documents will be verified at the time of Interview. The successful candidates will be able to download their interview letter from the official website of UPSC.
