UPSC CAPF 2023: Selection of the candidates for recruitment as Assistant Commandants (Group A) in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) viz. BSF, CRPF, CISF, Indo‐Tibetan Border Police and Sashastra Seema Bal is done on the basis of selection test conducted by the UPSC. The exam is followed by PET/ PST, medical test and personality test. UPSC CAPF 2023 Eligibility Criteria
Basic eligibility criteria for appearing in the UPSC CAPF 2023 exam are provided below:
Nationality | Candidates of Indian nationality are only eligible to apply. |
Age limit | The lower and upper age limit of the candidates is 20 and 25 years respectively as on 1st August 2023. |
Qualification | A bachelor’s degree in any specialization from a recognized university is required. |
Other | Those in the final year of their bachelor’s degree program who will achieve the required qualification before selection can also apply. |
Relaxation in upper age limit
The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxed as per the following rules:
- 5 years for the candidates belonging to SC/ ST category
- 3 years for the candidates belonging to OBC category
- 5 years for Ex-Servicemen/ Civilian Central Government Servants in accordance with the existing instructions of the Central Government
- 5 years if a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from 1st January 1980 to 31st December1989
UPSC CAPF 2023 Application Form
Candidates will be able to fill their application form for UPSC CAPF 2023 through online mode by visiting the commission’s official website upsconline.nic.in. The candidates are suggested to keep all the important documents ready before they proceed with the application process.
- To fill the application form, the candidates will have to provide their basic personal and academic details.
- Candidates will also have to upload scanned copies of their photograph and signature into the application form.
- Choice for exam city center should also be provided by the candidates into their application form.
- Duly filled application form can then be submitted online along with the prescribed application fee.
- A printout of the filled-in application form should be taken out and kept safe by the candidates for future correspondence.
- Candidates are requested not to send the printout of the application form to the commission’s office.
Application fee:
- An amount of Rs. 200/- should be paid by the candidates as the application fee for CAPF exam.
- Female candidates and those belonging to SC/ ST category are exempted from payment of the application fee.
- Payment of the fee can be done online SBI net banking/ any bank debit card/ credit card or offline via Pay-in-slip generated during registration.
Detailed Application Form (DAF)
- Candidates who are shortlisted for the personality test/ interview need to fill a Detailed Application Form.
- In this form, the candidates need to provide their basic information along with the preference of forces.
- Those who submit the DAF in time will be able to download their call letter for appearing in the interview.

UPSC CAPF 2023 Admit Card
- Candidates can download the online CAPF admit card using their registration details a few weeks before the commencement of exam.
- A printout of the downloaded admit card should be taken and carried to the exam center along with a valid identity proof.
- No candidates will be granted entry into the exam hall in the absence of any of these documents.
- In case of any problem in downloading the admit card, the candidates should at once contact the commission.
- Candidates are suggested to preserve the admit card till the end of selection process, as it will also be required at the time of personality test.
UPSC CAPF 2023 Result
- The authorities will declare the result of the CAPF exam on the official website of the commission.
- Candidates who clear the written exam will have to attend Physical Standard Test (PST)/ Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and medical test.
- After clearing this round, candidates will be eligible to the final round of the selection process- personality test.
- Those who clear all these rounds will then be considered for recruitment to the Assistant Commandants post.

Question 1: Can female candidates apply for UPSC CAPF exam?
Answer: Both male and female candidates are eligible for appointment to the post of Assistant Commandants and hence women candidates can also apply for UPSC CAPF exam.
Question 2: If a candidate does not belong to Indian nationality, can he/she still apply?
Answer: Person who is not a citizen of India can only apply with the consent of the Central Government signified in writing.
Question 3: Is it possible to withdraw my application? What is the procedure for that?
Answer: After submitting the application if you feel like you don’t want to appear for the exam you can simply withdraw your application. The commission will provide an online window for withdrawing the application.
Question 4: Does the commission send the CAPF admit card through post?
Answer: The admit card will only be released on the official website of the commission and will not be sent through post, courier or any other means.
Question 5: How can I get an exam center nearby my home?
Allotment of the exam center will be done according to the choice provided by you in the application form on first come first serve basis. To get an exam center nearby your home, it is advised that you submit your application as early as possible.
